two versions of industry life cycles ?!?

one is 5 stages in M&A Corp fin: pioneering, rapid growth, mature growth, stabilization and decline another one is 4 stages in Equity: pioneering, growth, mature, decline which one shall be used for the exam then!? this is really inconsistent

Ahh… that’s not even confusion. Try this one out. Infomaster Inc. is a financial web portal company that collects and translates financial news releases into Chinese for Chinese readers worldwide. The technology platform that Infomaster developed several years ago is now operating smoothly. Nevertheless from time to time, there are a few flaws in the system. Currently Infomaster is aggressively marketing its products via financial forums and investor websites. Last year, Infomaster was able to earn a small profit. Q1. Which stage of the industry cycle is Infomaster operating in? A) Mature. B) Growth. C) Pioneer.

growth – would be earning more profits mature - profits would have kinda slowed to gdp level here since company is relatively new, looking for new outlets - thro’ internet forums etc. and making small profits - I would go with pioneer.

I would guess “D” : CPK and D.S. are going to nail this exam.

CPK for President and P.P for VP! Actually we already discussed this particular question in one of the Lunch Crunch’s by Ditch Digger. Just wanted to bring to notice for ndzhai, that life, at times, could be a convoluted conundrum.

i’d say it is early growth stage…my take on it is that at the pioneering stage the technology platform won’t be performing smoothly…and that it is unknwon if the platform is viable. i think i’d go with option b though that is not the best answer i think…but neither is c

swaptiongamma Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Phil - you would be there in library this wekend? Yeah - I’ll be there. I’m lagging on this stuff - really need to step it up.

I did this question and I chose B — then realize the key word “SMALL” profit… Good to discuss though, at least know that I am not the only one that confused

to the very first question here, just got to this part in equities and got the answer for you… The 5 stages in corp finance relate to a company, whereas the 4 stages in Equity relate to the industry a company is in… But they are basically the same thing.
