She was implying gross negligence which is why most of them got manslaughter. Her point is that the injuries were not pre-existing, the guy was never buckled in despite that being protocol for exactly this reason. They opened the door repeatedly and saw this guy on the floor and still never buckled him in. They failed to properly check on his condition as shown in some of the bold quotes from the police report I put above and even ignored repeated requests for a medic and statements about is difficulty breathing. They even ignored common sense and went for another suspect pickup when he was in distress. At one point they opened the door and saw him face down and unresponsive and STILL failed to take any action after everything before. When someone is under your professional care as a emergency responder you’re liable. Autopsy ruled it a homicide. It’s going to be pretty damn hard to get out of jail time for these guys. I could see the second degree murder charge getting dropped for the driver, but even that may take work.
I’ll add that if the DA had ignored all of this: the police inquiry and the homicide findings by the autopsy without even bringing charges, then something is clearly wrong with the system and things would have really got out of control. Things have already taken longer than they should have.
This case is literally a smorgashbord of rights abuses.

So, the problem is a lot of cops, black and white, are treating blacks unfairly? Do black cops treat whites better? If so, why is that? Whites in nice cars in drug infested areas get pulled over at a disproportionate rate…should I break things and injure police officers?
