Using the designation - when?

Today, I’ve received my L3 exams and I have passed. Last month I joined the Institute and the local society. Membership status: approved.

My question: am I eligible to use the CFA designation already? Is there any steps pending?

You should wait until CFA designation will appear after your name in your account on CFAI website, most probably in September. I guess one should receive an e-mail regarding it as well. And do not forget to activate your membership if you have not done it yet.

Search here, I did the same thing and my name is already appearing as a charterholder

I just checked and mine already has the CFA designation next to my name.

Check again and see if your appears.

I’ve been a member of the institute and local society for some time though so nothing was pending on that regard.

you should be good to use it…

i’m waiting on my approval status - i applied 2+ weeks ago… i guess i can’t use the letters until it’s all approved.

mine says awarded charter today, with the letters after my name in directory search.

FYI I did not join local society –

My profile name (on the upper right of CFA page) now has CFA at the end of it, so I’m using it.

I had reference letters submitted and work approved a ways back.

Have been regular member of local society and CFAI for the last year. Paid my latest dues a few weeks ago. Showing up in the member directory as ,CFA with the charter awarded today!

I asked the local society here in London and I was told that it is not compulsory to be in both. So I chose the most obvious - CFAI

CFA have just answered my OP question

Thank you for contacting us in regards to your CFA charter. We awarded the CFA charter to you on 11 August 2015. You may now begin using the designation after your name and referring to yourself as a CFA charterholder. In the near future, you will receive a letter which confirms your status as a CFA charterholder. You can expect to receive the charter itself within the next six to eight weeks. I logged in and it already says ______, CFA. It also says my Earned the CFA charter on 11 August 2015…

Anyone know when the charters get shipped?

Congrats everyone!!! Happy I applied for membership beforehand, pending payment. Just paid a few hours ago and already got those 3 shiny letters after my name after signing in on the top right corner. Now its time to order business cards…lol
