Vertical common analysis

Hi,

When you calculate the vertical common analysis for the 3 main financial statements:

  1. Balance sheet.

    • I use Total Assets as 100% for the balance sheet Statement.
  2. Income.

    • I use Sales as 100% for the income statement.
  3. Cash Flow.

    • I use ChangeInCashFlow as 100% for CashFlow Statement.

My question is: some items in the three financial statements are already shown in negative format with a minus sign, so when I do the calculation, shall I report the result of the calculation with the negative sign? or not?

Or I should always report it with a plus or positive sign?

Does there are different cases for such a thing?

Or there is a rule of sump I should always follow?

Thanks

I’ve never seen vertical common analysis for the cash flow statement in real life.
