he could also be entitled to 1 year of “training visa” if he is a fresh graduate. If not, large companies will not go through the hassle of hiring someone on B-1 and then converting to H-1. It’s basically illiegal to hire an employee on B-1.
I doubt he has been out of school for less than 2 years…I,ll just wait and see what happens…tks!
Pray he’s not Australian. I found out recently that the Aussies have a massive separate quota of US working visas, due to the fair trade agreement.

^haha sorry… there are two sides to the story i guess. your post made me feel like such an invaluable asset to any world class organization 
It’s very strange to say the least, there is no way this guy is much better, or to put it better, there is no way this guy appeared to be much better, because anyways , no matter how good the selection process is, there is only so much due diligence you can do in a few hours. I know I did very well on all the questions, I felt they liked me, one guy asked me when can u start, the other guy said “just keep saying what you’re saying, you’re gonna be ok” …all of the sudden they re sponsoring this new guy…
