my god…what a beauty

^ Too gawdy.

This is a great watch:

It’s a nice Rolex. It has a bit of Fifty Fathoms in there.

I really want a Rolex Daytona black dial in either stainless, maybe even white gold.

I disagree. this design has been so overused by now , it’s no different then the millions of brown LV bags you see everywhere. BORING.

The point of the design is that it is highly legible. It has a big rotating bezel that is easy to grip when wet, and it has large markers with lots of luminescent material so that the time is readable under low light conditions. There is not much point in changing this design just for the sake of being different.

these are kinda cool. what say the watch gurus?

I feel like I got a headache trying to see what time it is. The dial is so small compared to the gimmicky face. 8/10 on the idea, 2/10 on the execution.

it could use plenty of refinement for sure, but the idea is pretty awesome I think, limitless possibilities.

I guess the concept is interesting and it is a good conversation starter. However, as mentioned, it is very difficult to read - I don’t like the mini dial approach, even in very high end watches like A Lange and Sons (numi will disagree). At $1500, it does not seem like a particularly good value, given the unknown maker and pedestrian movement.

Gimmicky

Rolex Skydweller at 42mm x 14mm is a massive watch, especially with the solid gold case, which was the only option until this year (although you did have the option between yellow and white gold). For comparison, Rolex Submariner measures 40mm x 12mm. I think Skydweller is meant to cater to the new market for oversize watches, since Rolex does not want to change the designs of their old watches by upsizing them.

The resulting issue with Skydweller is that it is extremely front heavy. I had difficulty holding the gold model, since the case kept hanging down. I cannot imagine that the watch is comfortable to wear. The stainless steel option should be a bit more ergonomic though.

how tiny is your wrist…sheesh do you even lift bro

im not a rolex guy so to me it just looks fugly anyways
