We are only allowed financial calculators for the exam?!

Im reading my my admission ticket and it only mentions the BAII plus or HP 12C are allowed in the exam room. These are both financial calculators. Is there a reason we are not allowed regular calculators, you know the ones that allow you to input your formula so you can see what youve typed. the financial calculators dont even do order of operations correctly. is there a way to get a line display of the equation I entered for the BAII plus? Im thinking not.

Because everyone would try to bring in the new Whizbang 46 which really has a cell phone, live video feed, Schweser notes, and also does financial calculations.

And the high tech calculators would allow people to cheat far too easily. storing formulas and people would even write programs to solve problems for them. Use the 12C, professionals in the industry use it.

I still don’t see why they can’t broaden the list of acceptable calculators though. Allowing only two kinds is just being anal.

^ but that’s exactly what the CFAI is right?

Yeah, not arguing about that.

I would if it was solar power. Ive had my BAII for years and Im going to bring a second one to my exam just in case… changing the battery isnt something I want to be doing. I dont know why financial calculators arent solar powered.
