wealthfront & betterment

looks like they manage your money through ETFs…thoughts?

I use the Intelligent Portfolio via Schwab. I’m not the biggest fan.

In theory they are good, in practice, they are good, but a bit expensive. Quite an override for a bundle of ETFs.

i went on betterment and entered my stats, they told me i should be split 90/10 s/b into 10 different ETFs

We custody through Schwab and I’ve looked at the institutional intelligent portfolios. I didn’t like how it forced you to construct the portfolios. We’ve looked at Betterment Institutional but you have to custody through them. There is a company called RiXtrema that we use their Portfolio Crash Test software. They’ve introduced a robo-platform called Advisor BioniX which looks pretty good but they currently only have a relationship with TD.

I have not looked at robo for myself personally but we’re looking at adding some robo offering as a lower cost option on our platform.

I don’t really have a problem with the use of ETFs.

robo advisors is a classic marketing term to change people’s opinions on target date funds.

We are also looking at adding robo to our platform. Betterment’s “private label” offering is pretty attractive.
