Wedding and CFA exam - too much?

I’m thinking about taking the CFA level II exam next year, but the catch is that I’m getting married about a month after the exam and I’m not sure how intrusive CFA will be on wedding preparation and vice versa. For anyone who’s been through the CFA level II exam, how intensive was the immediate lead up to the exam? I passed level I considerably above the 90th percentile if that helps, but I feel shaky on accounting despite doing well in the section on the day.

How do you know you were “considerably above the 90th percentile” on an exam that doesn’t report the necessary information to make that judgement?

Clairvoyance.

Duh.

I was above 90th percentile too… The new scores show that information now :)… Starting dec 2017.

In the December 2017 exam, CFAI introduced a new score report format where they indicate the 10th percentile, the passing score and the 90th percentile for the overall score. They also indicate the 10th percentile, the 70% score and the 90th percentile for each subsection.

The scores are represented as a blue box with a dark line in the interior representing the actual score and with the upper and lower bounds of the score representing how the CFAI believes you would have performed on different exams or under different circumstances.

For my overall score, the bottom of my box was comfortably above the 90th percentile line (putting my actual score higher). For the subsections, the bottom of the blue box was either sitting on the 90th percentile or above the 90th percentile for all bar two sections, which had the lowest weights in the exam.

So I’m not just trying to make something up - it’s just that the CFAI spells out quite clearly the 10th percentile, the passing score and the 90th percentile in the new results format. I believe the December exam was the first time this was done.

New result format tells you that. I think it just started from December 2017 Exam results.

Looks like you can either postpone the exam or your wedding. It’s upto you now.

I guess anything is possible, but yeah, I would say that you should postpone the exam next year. The exam would not only be intrusive the final month, but would be intrusive for the entirety of your wedding planning (which is very demanding by itself) assuming you are putting the necessary work in.

Enjoy the time planning with your fiancé and enjoying your wedding. If you even attempt the exam next year, the Wedding might end up getting called off anyway lol.
