Whats your Master Plan?
met a lvl 3 candidate. he told to redo 2011 mock and sample exams until i master each answer. so thats what i will do
I disagree from my failed level 2 attempt, maybe 5% in the material on the mock is on d-day
I ll do nothing but the mock exam, my brain cant take anything more
I have been and will continue just reviewing the material in schweser…will review mock solutions and maybe try a schweser practice exam but mainly focusing on reviewing the material… so much theory and formulas…would rather make sure I know all that…not too worried about nit picky questions…just trying to master the basic concepts of all the subjects
It would be very dumb to focus on the mock and sample exams. You honestly think CFAI would include the same types of questions on the actual? Of course not. Way too many would pass if the tests were similar…

I had the same thought process with level 1 and barely even cared about the mock (and am glad I didn’t)… I don’t understand why people spend all their efforts mastering the mock exams…those questions are less likely to appear on the real exam because if they did then everyone would have a great chance of getting it correct lol
i am not trying to, but i just can study anything more, and i want to keep my mind fresh and practicing
I’ve decided to do all the EOCs again, and Exam 6 for Schweser on Thursday. Friday’s off, except maybe for a quick skim of stuff I still don’t get.
I messed it all up. Wanted to do the EOCs but didn’t save time. Only did the FRA EOCS today. Hey grumble, can u pls tell me areas in EOCS I must try to look at. It’d be great help if you could tell me important questions if you may have marked while solving the first time. I am yet to review a lot of things. Forgot most part again. I haven’t yet taken the CFAI mock either. I might just burst.
Big picture is key at this point. You aren’t going to learn anything new. As is the case with every new test, you really won’t be able directly link a previous question you’ve done with the test questions. CFAI always has a way of asking questions in a way you haven’t quite thought of before. Best practice is to focus on big picture stuff from here on out, and use certain vins to cement specific problem areas (swap valuation, how to calculate partial vs full goodwill, stock for stock M&A, etc.) Long story short, focus on secret sauce and big picture FRA and Equity. Study formulas at the back of each Schweser book too.
I’m doing one more mock and then reading over the review guides (Schweser, Elan, and one I made) until I feel like I have memorized at least 90% of the stuff. Not sure if I can handle anymore than 90%, or will get there in the next four days for that matter. I agree, redoing mocks is a waste of time. Focus on the stuff you get wrong or had difficulty with and move on. For the formulas in the back of the Schweser books, I just ripped the pages out and study right off of them.

Only CFAI mocks and samples are giving me hard time…

Now the EOCs I recommend are ALL readings, ONLY the multiple choice ones. You won’t get tested on all the material, but you’ll cover a lot of it and will get more exposure to vignettes. Do this until Thursday evening, then do the mock. All friday, review stuff the mock showed you you don’t know. On Saturday, you’ll have a shot.
Ok then. Thanks a lot. Even I was worried to be present on the exam without the EOCS. I’ll start working on them and take the mock after it’s done.
I think doing the mocks does help, but not for mastering those specific questions. I’m doing the Schweser and CFA mocks but not to test myself, but more as a review tool. If I come across a question I really dont know or as a different approach from what I’ve seen before and I just go straight to the answer and look as the process or logic behind it. It’s a good way to pick up things you might miss from the readings.
