I read through the first and second study sessions with evaluating investments and private equity. the material seems so…different…or odd. They don’t really explain what all this post, pre, inv stuff is, and a lot of the material seems out of left field. does anyone else have the same weird feeling after reading AI?
Real Estates, Hedge Funds and Commodities was easy. Private Equity was not-so-easy, long and a lot to remember. Apart from that, I like AI stuff.
I believe PE is very important, and will definitely show up on the exam, as 1 question set, including calculation of PE fees and valuation of an LBO deal PE is a hot topic in the investment industry now
I agree with spationgamma. The real estate section has a few calculations, but they aren’t too bad. The problem is private equity, which is very long and is not explained that well. I went through it once and did the few questions in the back of the CFAI book, but that’s clearly not enough. I hope there are practice tests with private equity questions as I need to review it.
PE is a new topic this year. I would bet an item set will come from it. I like AI as well. CAIA is in 10 days.
I think that the PE stuff is pretty easy, although I do have a decent amount of experience dealing with them at work. I just think of them as TVM problems.
