If one passes the level 3 exam but has no immediate plans for applying the charter, what should the person write on the resume? Can she still call herself a CFA candidate?
I believe you can say “passed all 3 CFA examinations, charter pending approval of work experience” or something like that. I’m assuming that insufficient work experience would be the only reason you would delay your application?
Thanks for the reply. The real intention is to avoid the membership fee. I guess that since one no longer enrolls in the CFA program, she cannot call herself a candidate. The only option one has is to state that one passed all 3 CFA examinations. Another related question is how long one can delay the charter application. Say, if three years later, she decides to apply for the charter, is that still fine? Or does she need to take the exams again?
Passed all three and don’t have the charter yet. In “MY CFA” on the CFAI website it has my status as “CFA charter pending.” I just go with that.
I’m pretty sure you can’t say “CFA charter pending”. You are making the assuming that your work experience is relevant. I think you can only write “Passed all 3 levels of the CFA Examination”.
Hmm they discuss it here and I guess you can say it… http://www.analystforum.com/phorums/read.php?13,1178182
Thanks for the link. I have the required work experience. But if I want to delay the application for the charter for a few years (so to avoid the membership fees), is there a deadline for the charter application? We all know that CFA recommends keeping record for 7 years. Can I still apply for the charter after 7 years without re-taking the exams? Do I need to pay any fees to maintain my status of “charter pending”?

True, my kids got lots of CFA rewards at school but we never used them. Plus, CFA does not open on Sundays.
