What to do after reading the material?

Hi All,

As of next week I should have finished reading the Kaplan Books and have taken all of the questions from the Kaplan books. Now I’m wondering what is the best strategy going forwards.

I must have completed c70% of EOC so will obviously have to finish off those. I would like to do another round of EOC but I think that close to 1400 questions (67 readings * c20 questions) so would take me about 3 weeks to complete, and then there are the Qbank which I’ve already done around 500 questions from.

I’ve also got to do the mock exams from the CFA and Schweser.

What do you think the best order is to do all these questions?

Holy crap, when did you start?

I started 2nd July.

10 weeks to read 5 books…c175 hours total…you think that is good going?

i think your username has me concerned

practice problems, then practice problems…after that, do some full-length practice/mock exams and review those thoroughly…finally, you can finish up with some more practice problems.

You are well ahead of everybody else. Make sure you will be at the top of your game on the exam day (not before the exam). I found re-reading Secret Sauce several times and doing lots of Q-bank questions very helpful. Answer tough questions on the AF - that helps with staying sharp. Good luck!

That’s roughly the time frame I did it in, although I think I fiinished a one or two weeks faster. What I did was watch all the Schwesers video (1 or 2 a day) and doing QBank. By the time the last month arrived, I had done like 30% of QBank and watched all the videos. Then I kept doing QBank, did CFAI practice test, memorized secret sauce, and practiced EOC’s. Then I just relaxed and study scantly the last week before the test.

Great idea to get rest the week before the exam. I have seen people do poorly on the exams because they didn’t get ANY sleep before the exam because they wanted to finish their preparation.

Do Schweser Q-Bank to figure out what your strong / weak areas are, then re-read the material and take notes on the sections that you struggle with the most. Continue doing Q-bank while you re-read (4 days reading a week + 2 days of Q-bank a week).

I would say don’t limit yourself to reading for Level 1. Frankly, sometimes its easier to learn Level 1 material on third party resources on the web. I’d take QBank tests and see what I missed. I’d go research it online and CFAI books, then take a test on just that section. You should be set, just start isolating weak areas and drill down.

Yea, I had 2 coworkers take off the entire week of work. I told myself there is no way I’d be productive trying to study all day for 5 days. I just took Friday off (I travel for my job and wanted to be home and not in a hotel the day before the test).

Goood…

That is smart man…Continue with question practice and make sure u review the materials atleast once again before the exams

Good luck

The heck… I started about the same time as you and I’ve only gone through ethics, quants, and econ… Idk how many hours a week you are doing but I could only manage 15-20 hrs a week…

People work differently and at different speeds. Just make sure you figure out what works best for you – as the test gets closer, this forum starts to become fairly stressful. Always some guy doing better than you on the practice tests yet expressing doubt he’ll fail lol

Consider doing CFAI EOC questions and BB instead. Those are the best practice…then take as many practice tests as you can.

Remember all the concepts are plain easy…the challenge is to keep them fresh in your mind on d-day

L3Bol, can you please clarify the BB abbreviation you used. Is it the “blue boxes”? within the CFAI readings, like Example X… Exhibit Y? Thank you.

Yes, blue boxes within the CFAI readings.

These BB become more and more important as you progress thru the levels…in L3 you can find whole mini cases cover in the BB…same in L2…

Thank you L3Bol.

Ditto, 15-20 hrs a week. But I work as a credit analyst so FRA comes quite naturally to me…I’m also familar with market structure and i’ve had the Ethics app which I use everyday for my mid afternoon toilet break.
