the economy can easily stabilize at current levels; inf act the past few years we have had historically low unemployment rates. Longer term, the Baby boomers will start dying off at some point and that will open up opportunity for everyone on this board. Unfortuantely for the short term, longevity has been extended by modern medicine.
I think people at our age should see this as an opportunity. When the baby boomers retire, we will become the gate keepers of society.

depends on how quickly the political voting balance changes; I don’t know anyone under 40 who believes in Soc Sec. Personally, I would rather axe it now and let my existing contributions burn rather than continue contributing to it. As far as Medicare, which will become a bigger problem I think, we will have to limit aggregate benis somehow. We may even have to do abit of surgery on our capitalist way of life and sacrifice the health care industry by nationaliziing it and making it take 4 weeks to get a Dr or RX appointment, like Britain does.
how about simply getting ready to accept lower wages. i am sure a lot of the low level tech work can return back if the wages adjusted downwards. a loss of living standards will ofcourse happen. some jobs in real estate may have been permanently destroyed -shouldnt have existed in the first place.
