Hi Guys / Gals, I am getting ready to update my email address on CFAI’s website, so that there are no delays in receiving my result on July 26th. Last Dec. for Level 1 I had provided my work email address and I did not get the results until 9:30 a.m. EST. I think there was at least a 10 minute delay because of some issue with my work server. This time I am planning on providing my gmail address. Would that be a good idea? Your comments are appreciated. I want to know my results as soon as possible and thus reduce stress. Stress level heightens after 9 a.m. while you are waiting for the email.
It goes to whatever e-mail address you have posted. G-mail/work address does not matter. The timing of you receiving it depends on how they handle outgoing e-mail. I received mine at 7:15 am last year (CST). In short, it doesn’t matter. Just take the day off, chill with a few brews (and yes, I’m aware that its a Tuesday morning, but the CFA does that to you), and whenever you get the e-mail, you get it.
They should send them out on Friday’s at 5:00pm. Think of all the lost worktime you spend updating your inbox and stressing about it when you should be working. Wish I lived anywhere but the east coast. I hate how we get it in the middle of the morning, with a full day of work ahead of you. In Europe it’s the afternoon and you can bolt out of work. On the west coast you can wake up and have it sitting in your inbox. Even anywhere else it will not be during the workday.

Thanks guys. I can not take the day off. I have provided my gmail address on the CFAI site. I have faith in Google that it will not crash on July 26th. Since I can not take off, I have to take some pill to ease my anxiety or take some deep breaths and hope that the deep breaths will provide some thing more than a placebo. (unlikely to be better than any other placebo though).
So your stress level goes up if instead of 10 weeks, you need to await 10 weeks and 10 minutes? Why don’t you e.g. book a half a day meeting at the same time or, if it’s a day off, go for a long walk. You can then check your e-mail a few hours later when you have time.
Last year someone posted a link to this site: http://www.emailaddressmanager.com/tips/email-address-limit.html The problem is that some email providers require you send emails in batches. For example Google has a limit of: “no more than 500 recipients per message for the Gmail web interface, or max 100 recipients if you are using an email client software” Yahoo on the other hand: “no more than 100 emails or recipients per hour” I’m sure there has to be a way around this. But last year I did not have great luck with my Yahoo account. As I mentioned on another thread, I didn’t receive my results until 9:40pm.
I had a yahoo address last year and didn’t get my results until 7:30 PM EST. I just hit refresh all day at work. WORST. DAY. EVER. Needless to say, I changed it to my work email address this year.
Hi haphols_cfa, Thanks for the infor. The restrictions you are referring to are for Outgoing emails from Google and Yahoo ?? But, we are worried about the incoming emails into Google and Yahoo from CFAI. Anyway, I think, for now, I am sticking with my GMail. Still think they are better than my work email. Anybody else using GMAIL for receiving their results?
