which is better video Cd or 16-Week Online Class

I am considering purchasing Schweser Premium plus solution. It asks for one of two options video Cd or 16-Week Online Class. Please guide me which one is better as both are instructor led reviews.

I went with the 16-week Online Class because of the schedule. I knew that every thursday I had to be ready. It’s like a weekly kick in the ass, just what I needed. Ponpon

I tried both and I think it depends on your preferences. If you like studying when you want, in the order that you want and at your own speed, then take the video cd’s. If you need a scheduled class date to motivate you, then the 16-week online class is for you. It’s pretty much the same thing except for the live pop quiz and possibility of asking questions during class.

The main advantage of online classes is that it forces you to keep a schedule. The main advantage of CDs is that you can back up and review if you miss a point or wan to hear it again. Personally, I like live classes best, because I need an external scheduling method, and I find that all the technology of the online format gets in the way of learning. I also like seeing other people who are actually studying for this thing However CDs are probably better if you are the type who can keep disciplined about your schedule.

it also depends on which format has the better teachers. I had taken Stalla for L1, with the option of the live class. the Live class had poorer teachers than the CDs. So it depends on whether you consider it worthwhile to go to the class to listen to someone saying things in a much poorer fashion than the CD. And mind you this is most often a weekday, where along with the commute + time in class - you spent close to 5 hours which might have been spent in a more profitable manner, reading the books and listening to the CDs. As for the “companionship” part - you have AF… (virtually).

thank you all guys! one thing positive i found in this forum is that: you all are very helpfull people…

I use the video cd’s to take me through the material quickly so I need them before the books. This means I watch the cd’s in november/december and then dive into the books from january to march. Worked for level 2 so I’m sticking to it.

I took the Level 2 online class with Andrew Holmes last year and thoguht it was helpful, especially to keep me on a set study schedule so I thought I’d probably take the online class for Level 3. Dose anyone have an opinion on the Level 3 online instructors? Based on the schweser site the two they have listed are Dr. Bruce Kuhlman and Dr. Greg Filbeck.

I used video cds for L2 and online classes for L3. Verdict: go for the online classes. Bruce was very helpful and answered all my email queries especially near the L3 exams!

Passed with online classes with Bruce Kuhlman. I highly recommend him and his online class. Class materials are great, responsive to email, and you can always rewatch the archives.

Can’t agree more with gideon. I passed with online classes as well. Bruce is a very friendly and insightful chap. I felt like I had a team of experts behind me when I charged forward into battle. Highly recommend!

Online class is starting up in a couple weeks. I was thinking my approach will be to read the covered Schweser Readings prior to the class (Sunday/Monday), “attend” the class live on Tuesday night, then spend Weds-Sat going through Schweser end-of-chaper questions, SchweserPro, and CFAI reading/problems where appropriate. Does that sound like the right approach, or did those who stuck to the class schedule in the past find it helpful to spend more/less time on the SS prior to the lecture?
