Which membership, affiliate or regular?

Hey everyone. So I passed level 3 this june and have only 12 months of experience (yes im a young’n). Trying to get membership in a local society as well as with the CFA institute.

Should I be applying for the affiliate? For the regular membership? Thoughts? help?

Also I’m in SF – looking for a sponsor person as well.

It’s not a decision you make (as far as I know)… it is dependent on your experience. If you have 48+ months of approved experience, you are a regular member and can become a charterholder. If you have less than that you are an affliate member.

If you can’t get regular, then don’t bother. When you are eligible for regular then go for it.

regular is only for those with 48 months, which you clearly don’t have.

Affiliate for you

thanks everyone for your help, I’ll just wait to get membership then.

I suppose it’s time to go network/socialize with the charterholders.

If your employer will pay dues, you should go for the affiliate membership that way you can go to society events and network.

I think I will do that – employer does pay fees might as well be going to the society events not on my own dime.
