Unfortunately this is my feeling too. I don’t have a good alternative, but I’d rather not see America turn into a monarchy with Bushes and Clintons. But then again if the alternative is a social conservative with “family values”… sigh. I’ve yet to find someone to vote for, only vote against…
Just vote Libertarian. Doesn’t matter who it is–just for him/her. That’s what I do.
In other words, vote for Drew Carey. Good way to find the actual retail price of America.
Hillary is a good candidate from an intellectual perspective, but most people cannot relate to her emotionally and will find reasons to not support her.
Also, it’s not clear what message she represents. “It’s time for Hillary”? Maybe if she was a pizza or plate of tacos. Obama had the whole “Change” thing in 2008, followed by “Most likely not a robot” in 2012.
I would rather break up the family hold on the Presidency too, but that’s kind of a minor point for me.
I kinda like having stop signs at intersections and “forced” vaccination for public school children, so supporting Randinistas is not an option.
I thought you were joking about Carey, but it appears that truth is stranger than fiction: http://2016.libertarian-party.org/Carey/
^Yes, a very prominent Libertarian. Along with Neil Peart (the drummer from Rush, and thebest drummer in the history of R&R), Sir Mix-a-Lot, Billy Jo Armstrong (from Green Day), Howard Stern, Trey Parker and Matt Stone (creators of South Park), Dave Barry, Glen Jacobs (Kane, from WWE), Jeff Foxworthy, and Chris Rock.
Billy Jo Armstrong is a libertarian? I had him pegged as an ultra-liberal.
So Marco Rubio is expected to announce his candidacy this afternoon. That makes two minorities running for the Republican side.
^ They’ll have 3 Hispanics when Jeb announces.
^ That has been going around on Facebook. I like the Republicans for my state and Libertarians for federal gov.
So two more entrants in the GOP race today; Ben Carson (a favorite among some here as I recall) and Carly Fiorina. I don’t know that much about Dr. Carson, but what makes anyone think Fiorina should be president? She sucked as CEO of HP, costing tens of thousands of employees their jobs and losing billions of market cap.
Fiorina sucks and is a horrible person overall. At first, I thought that she was just running as a publicity stunt. However, I am beginning to think that she actually thinks she deserves to win. As unlikeably as Hillary is, Carly is even worse and is far less qualified.
Ben Carson is a BSD and it’s great that he has no political background. We need real people to run for office. However, his lack of policy experience means that he will have to work harder to convince people that he can do the job.
Throw the lawyers out. I like Ben at this point. Attack his background. I dare you…
Ben Carson has no experience in public policy, economics, military, or international relations. He does not have the same policymaking credentials as candidates who are more experienced in goverment. In addition, he does not have experience in the legislative process and this might hinder his negotiating ability with Congress.
Compare him, for instance, to Mitt Romney, who passed successful legislation as governor as Massachusetts and is an accomplished negotiator and business leader, or Hillary Clinton, who has already had a long career in government.
The President is a goverment official with specialized duties. Being a successful surgeon does not necessarily prepare Carson for this position.
Ohai, you could be president. No experience required. I’m more interested in if somebody can think critically and believes in limited central power.
His mama raised him on the welfare.
The idea of the experienced professional politician is a new age concept. I think we should go back to politicians being amateurs. Taking a break from their professions.
That’s what I mean. Not going to look good attacking the welfare baby that did good.
I respectfully disagree (first of all, I can’t be President since I am not a natural born citizen, but I know that’s not the point). Being the President is like being the CEO of a huge and complex corporation. Ben Carson is not qualified to be the CEO of Apple. Why should he be qualified to be the CEO of the United States?
Having never participated in government, Carson likely has no notion of realistic policy achievements that can happen in the span of one Presidency. Thus, his campaign promises will most likely be even more unreliable than those of other candidates.
His background is clearly very respectable and he is an admirable person. However, it would be irresponsible for voters to elect a President who has never written, voted on or debated any kind of legislature. Carson should first run for a position in Congress, which would give him some practice in governing before he pursues a higher office.
