Who's in for Marc's new LevelUP Bootcamps?

i think that out-of-town people going to bootcamps rarely take into account the opportunity costs of time lost due to travelling, planning the trip, and general tiredness that you feel after spending half a day on the plane or in airport lines.

You’re gonna waste 10+hours for traveling purposes in order to have a 1-day 12-hours cram-session. And for that you’ll pay also above $1000. I would rather have those 10 hours lost spent on doing practice problems.

Moreover, bootcamps can’t acount for individual learnning differences. I think of myself as a quick learner, and I would actually be anoyed if I had to waste my time until the instructor explains the material that I already know to someone who has not grasped it as quickly.

Better make your own learning plan and show some self-determination. Hand-holding from instructors can only get you that far.

I sense Charterholderness in your future!

this just so happens to be one of those times that hand holding actually pays off. which is exactly why ill be attending this seminar.

how you want to spend your time and money is something not of my concern…

it would be cool if AF collected data on passing rates broken down by which provider candidates used to study. Only then we would somewhat be able to approach the question of what’s worth it and whatsnot.

I can’t speak for everybody but I take into account very Dollar and Time I spent going to the 4-Day Bootcamp (including the value of my free seminar gift!!l ) and I still found it worth the flying and hotel costs plus the darn fee in Omaha. When you’re a smart person, you know you don’t know everything and you seek out the best of the best in their field to leverage their knowledge to achieve your goals.

Contrary to what you think about traveling, I actually get a lot more done flying bc I study on the flight and while waiting at the gate. Plus I can’t study 8 hours for 4 days by myself, but after this, I can log ((( 32+ hours))) to my hour count => priceless.

The LevelUP Bootcamp with Marc is very intense, four days goes fast, if you’re not up to par on the material, don’t bother going bc it’s there to help the people who have been studying hard kick it up a notch and PASS when the pass/fail margin on L3 is soooooooo very narrow.

Study your butt off, go to the LevelUp Bootcamp (get smack with more work, more confidence, reboot), put in superhuman effort and PASS. That’s my plan. Leverage is important to maximize your equity return. The Bootcamp is borrowing at the cheap rate to earn a higher return than you could by yourself to end the suffering.

Talked to my boss today to see if they’d cover the registration, so I’m in for Omaha! Gonna register tomorrow. It’s not a bad little drive from Kansas City. Looking forward to 4 days of intense review. Marc’s definitely been my favorite presenter on the Schweser videos.

+1 - Marc’s definitely been my favorite presenter on the Schweser videos.

Good for you! I was even thinking of finding a girl to room with to cut the hotel cost in half. You guys can do that too, ask Marc to start some room sharing list.

See you in Omaha!

For those who registered, did you receive any educational material yet? Someone mentioned a binder full of notes… etc.

@Godism17, why do you choose Omaha? Your departure location is closer to the South? Good idea on sharing room!

@ all who took Marc course, is it better to do his course in Apr or May (SF)? I want to go to SF but it’s too close to Exam day. I understand he helps with focusing points and some key calculations, what other benefits if I do all the BB and EOC and read curriculum? Does it help a lot for AM exam?

Thanks all.

goalrush - The LevelUp Focus Package was sent out last week by physical mail.

Miamia - Ideally I go to Boston to go to the April bootcamps and be a few weeks early but Omaha is the cheapest to fly into bc the hotels are pretty cheap, there’s a free hotel shuttle from the airport to the local hotels. You don’t have to take a taxi unless you are flying at weird hours. Even restarants are also cheap vs Boston or NY. Not as exciting but class will wear you out anyways.

If someone wants to rent me a room for a few days in Boston that’s close to the T, I would do the Boston Bootcamp on April 23. The eariler you can do it the better bc he will give you homework material…

Yes, Marc covers a lot of the AM and IPS stuff. After four days of it, you feel like you see everything clearer and you see the big picture of what it will take to pass L3.

When you go to see Marc, he is going to run through the material pretty quickly. In turn, you should be well-prepared before sitting down to hear him speak.

If you’ve already read and reviewed the material, then seeing him in April will allow you to spend more time doing practice exams in May – that’s a good thing. But for me, attending his Bootcamp in May made a lot of sense (since I was playing catch-up) and helped me cross the finish line in full stride.

Thanks a lot, Godism17 & tozerrt!! maybe, should form something like CFAcouchsurfing

I just registered for the San Franciso class. This thread is what really got me interested so thanks everyone for posting.

CFAcouchsurfing would be pretty funny, it would seriously add to the value of the Charter since it is an international club. I would only caution that CFA Charterholders can be pretty weird and may not have clean couches…lol

Glad you guys found this thread helpful. I personally am not the greatest with helping answer questions and I feel this is the best thing I can do to help people pass.

The review material which accompanies the course is fantastic. There’s an outline of the reading then a list of the important blue boxes, white text examples, exhibits, and end of chapter questions to focus on. Then there’s a list of each question from previous AM exams which covered that subject.

I think it’ll be a very good gameplan to follow for these last couple months

I’ll be attending the bootcamp here in NY because of the good things I’ve read here in the forum.

Just got the focus package and I thought it is a good guide to reinforce the concepts.

Looking forward to attending the bootcamp.

Good for you guys. On Level 2, we all know you go to John Harris for the accounting workshop. On Level 3, you go to Marc LeFebvre for his Bootcamps. They are actually both good friends too.

Hey guys, I will be heading to the Boston camp, I am coming from overseas. Just wondering if anyone recommends or has found a good place to stay near the location.

Coming from Australia, however Tozzert and others here have recommended it highly and being able to use only the examinable material from the last 10 CFAI exams is very appealing.

I just want to ask if Marc sent you things beforehand to prep with?

Cheers.

I asked the same question in the previous page… seems like you get a prep package in the mail. I will receive mine in a couple of days, a week and a half after i registered. HTH

Hey Goalrush, well I guess I will see you at the Boston class man.

Looking forward to clearing up reading 9 and 14 once and for all
