I’ve passed all my actuarial exams and this exam is that much tougher for one reason – June 7th. It’s in the summer. Worst date ever. I cant focus cause I want to be playing outside.
Really, actuarial exams are tougher but they’re in September and April. I’m not even joking when I say this. I had my golf clubs shipped to Toronto to my brothers place so I wouldnt run off and do a round. If by chance I do fail, I’m making it a point to complete all studying by the end of april.
cipherap15 … how much of exam 2/FM touches on stuff we’re learning here for level II (excluding the calculus / quantitative rigor - I have a background in engineering and applied mathematics / won’t be an issue for me)? I’m planning on taking it this October.
Igor. I’m joking around when I say playing outside. You dont need to take it literally. And it would be impressive if I was a 12 year old actuarial fellow.
Swatbs. FM does help a little but nothing significant. The main thing with the actuarial exams you’ll find is that the difficulty is there compared to the CFA exams and that can benefit you. The math computations are easy on the CFA exam. FM isn’t too hard even mathematically but compared to MFE and up, the CFA is easier.
And for the other comments. I’m confident I’ll pass. I’ve got a good track record of not failing exams. But I’m having a difficult time staying focused during the summer months. I think some of it is that I’m already an actuarial fellow and I dont feel the pressure of passing. Even today, I ended up playing outside(Golf) – hope the playing outside comment doesnt bother you again. Dont take life too seriously, you’ll never get out alive. Humor will help you greatly in passing exams…well it did for me…
“Dont take life too seriously, you’ll never get out alive.” - nice quote from Van Wilder… I remember watching that movie when i was in college… I always looked forward to the last line of the movie when Tara Reid (when she was hot), said she wasn’t wearing panties…
