Why is AIG up so much?

How does the common equity hold any value. Servicing the $160 billion in prefs, interest on current debt and sale of profitable assets should leave the common equity with absolutely nothing. Don’t get how it even holds any option value.

i would also like to know the answer to this… anyone?

Shorts covering? Who knows anymore. The market is so rigged that all you know is that someone is doing something shady.

Because I didn’t buy it at $0.40.

Because it is owned by the government and the equity will be worth what the government says it’s worth.

i had the same thinking… and put a little in at $.40 (that i fully expected to lose but figured it might be worth the gamble…) but now im getting nervous since i dont understand why the price has more than doubled
