Wiley Level III

Ahah good luck for your results! Thanks for the detailed answer. This year they say that L3 material should be available in September. We will see. Did you use Wiley for level 2? Regarding the videos, although I watched some of them for level 2, I am not the biggest fan of this method of learning. I mostly use them when something is not clear. You said the material is not quite there yet. You mean the way it is written? Did you compare with Schweser? I honestly really dont like Schweser, they give so little info that it makes everything more complicated. There should be a balance and I think Wiley got it right for Level 2.

I am planning on reading CFAI books first, but then I need something different for a second reading. All I know is I dont want Schweser. Would you recommend anything else? (apart from Wiley)

The only Wiley material I used for L2 was its 11th-Hour Review (it may be the best third-party study material I’ve ever used and certainly the best for the money). I did use Kaplan for L1 and my first attempt at L2 (obvs, I failed).

I was upset I paid so much for condensed material and had a few L2 questions I felt Kaplan didn’t cover (ask any Band 10 if a few questions matter), so I made up my mind then CFAI would be primary study material and 3rd-party providers would only be supplemental. I found value in Kaplan’s Qbank in L2 as a way to diagnose what I was weak on and needed to study more. I paid for Kaplan’s Qbank on L3, but found it’s mostly useless.

“Not there yet” means I do not feel the Wiley material for L3 is comprehensive enough to be your primary study method. Others may differ here, but I think the CFAI material should be your primary study material (see argument above). As a comparison, I’d say Kaplan is more comprehensive, Wiley is just deeper with what it does cover. That’s why I use it as a secondary study guide after reading the CFAi material. The page volume of CFAI materials is much lower than L1 or L2, so I think you can do both.

I think you’ll disagree with Wiley’s videos in L3. Darren Miller is solid and even gives you “red flags” to watch out for on the test.

Another option is, arif

I like Daren Miller a lot. He was a grader for Level III AM exams as well which is a bonus. I’m considering purchasing the Wiley package just for his video lectures.

hi jay, i sent you PM yestreday…

How are Schweser Online weekly /bi-weekly classes ? If I considered CFAI material + Schweser printed + Wiley Printed …(not sure how much of this I can go through) but if you were to combine these 3 printed materials with some online videos would that be Wiley’s Level 3 videos or Schwesers online videos?

Is Wiley 11th hour just a condensed version of their Study Guide? which one would you recommend?

Oh that’s right thanks for reminding me. I’m out of town on a family trip right now and travel home tomorrow so I’ll get to it on Monday.

wow…just realised there is a Frank Stalla name on Wiley instructors now.

the man behind Stalla & Analystsuccess.

Wiley acquired Stalla, so it’s only natural for Frank to come along. Although I wonder if he’s mostly a figurehead now.

I would have paid for this.

Olinto also appear on fitch learning level 2 - 2016

With all due respect, Bob Stalla (Frank’s father) was the man behind Stalla, not Frank.
