Will age be an issue for getting hired?

I went back to school to get a top MBA degree. I had considerable experience in software development for financial firms. Now I feel I am in an awkward situation to compete I-Bank job with people that don’t have much experience but a MBA. So far, it seems that they are much easier to be placed than me. Is my age (mid 30s) an issue? I believe my interview skills are much better than younger ones.

in january, you said you were still in school getting your MFE…a few months ago you said you got a job at a top investment bank, but then more recently you said it was an internship and not full time…and now i guess there’s an MBA too? anyway, i really have no idea what your true credentials are but the short answer to your question is YES

unless u can develop softwares for the trading platforms of structured derivatives etc… than u should be fine. I don’t think an MBA is necessary, try getting something more specific instead of an MBA which is more on a broader scope. Firstly of course youll need to understand the mechanics of structured derivatives etc… which should be easy for you due to your working background in software development.

I base my decision solely on age. And sexiness. So if you’re old and a guy, you’re not getting hired. If you’re a young, ugly girl who’s intelligent and has completed the CFA, CPA, CAIA, CFP, CMT, a Rhodes Scholar with multiple and graduated from Wharton, I might hire you. If you’re a young stupid hot girl who puts out, you will be hired. Hope that helps.

from my experience, sex > age. A dumbass girl from my engineering class was hired at a position that i was aiming for. Basically these old hags wanted some eye candy instead of hard working youngsters. World aint fair.

just wait until you’re an old hag and u’ll understand the rationale. ancientmtk Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > from my experience, sex > age. > > A dumbass girl from my engineering class was hired > at a position that i was aiming for. so this little queens kid was working there after 2nd year…and he wasnt even in queens commerce

What school did you go for the MBA? You’ll just have to stress other parts of your profile… (more experience, more mature)… … and probably mention that the work aspect won’t interfere with your personal life with specific examples.

CMU

Would you stop worrying about your age. Not much you can do about it.

If you’re young, you need to sound mature. If you’re mature, you need to sound young.

Yes

Is that a joke site. How can J’Aime be a real name.
