Installed this on my windows laptop. I like it. Computer starts up and shuts down pretty quickly. Like the look. If you are on Vista or XP it is definitely worth the upgrade. Windows 7 is solid but 8 is an improvement.
I was expecting this to be a negative post on Win 8
It really must be good.
Finally microsoft did something good…too bad I had already made the switch to the dark side (Apple)
They nailed it. It’s good.
I wonder if it’s too little too late.
Apple hasn’t really tried to make a better version of OS X in ten years because they seem to believe that mobile is all that matters.
Well, the thing about Windows 8 is that it’s supposed to carry through to tablets and other mobile devices. Desktops and laptops are the best place for Microsoft to introduce a new operating system, since they already have high penetration in this segment (hehe penetration). If customers like Windows 8 on normal computers, they will be open to mobile devices that have the same user interface.
Yeah I saw that, eight their new prototype tablet. The thing is the OS is less and less important.
MSFT is going to $100
OS X hasn’t needed much improving. Mountain Lion is one of their bigger updates though.
So was I. I was under the impression that they changed a lot in Windows 8 as compared to 7.
When office OS will be upgraded. I hate look of XP.
At first I took this as “starts up and suddenly shuts down pretty quickly”. I guess I’ve been losing trust in Windows over the years…
Windows 7 has been very reliable so far. XP was constantly frustrating me.
Is the final product out or are you running the preview release?
It’s the preview but they finalized it.
Maybe I’m missing something, but Blake’s post is incomplete. He’s not telling us we’re all a bunch of idiots for not having Windows 8 already.
Would the real Blake please stand up!
Does Windows 8 still hold water?
I bought a copy of Windows 8 when they were selling it on the cheap in the beginning of the year. I’m gonna wait to install it until 8.1 comes out. 8.1 is bringing the start button back and allowing you to boot to the desktop without needing to make other adjustments.
It is indeed easier to work with - both speed and ease of use. Only thing I am finding not so easy is when working in multiple Excel sheets in multiple workbooks. Somehow it was easier in earlier versions. May be I overlooked some ‘option’ choices.
