Work experience approved before taking level 3

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I was wondering if it was possible to get our work experience approved by CFA before we do the level 3 exam. I’m asking because I work in corporate finance and would really like to know if my last 4 years will be accepted?

Yes. I got my work experience approved and became a regular member in August 07, and I passed my L3 in June this year. This means you get your charter designation weeks rather than months after your pass your L3.

I got my work experience approved and became a regular member after i passed level I. Now taking level III in june. I actually applied for membership thru the NYSSA (NY Society of Security Analysts). Once they approved me after reviewing work experience and 2 sponsorship forms they then forward the application to the CFAI for them to approve as well.

I am the unlucky one as I passed all 3 exams in 18 months but got 23 out of 53 months accepted… That means I need to wait for another 25 months to be a charterholder.

My work experience was approved while I was a Level II candidate and the majority of my finance experience has been in a corporate finance capacity. You should have no problems with the caveat that corporate finance is a broad description and we could have completely different job responsibilties. Best of luck!

you can do it, the question is whether it is worth the money to you.

I guess we don’t have the same definition of “unlucky”

Ok, so if I go on the website of CFA institute and want to enter my work experience, I need to go in the “Membership Application”. Now my question is: can I fill out the work experience section only? Basically I want to have my work experience aproved but not necessarily become a CFA Institute Member before I am done with the exams. Don’t get me wrong, if it’s the only way to get my work experience approved, I’ll gladly do it, but if I can wait untill I pass the exam to become a member of my local society and get the 2 sponsors to become a CFA Institute Member, I’d rather wait?

if you only fill in the work experience section they wont look at your application and your work experience wont get approved.

Thanks guys for your help
