38 months of work experience just rejected, 18 months approved. Pretty frustrating as i thought my responsibilities were pretty relevant. I worked as a treasury analyst @ a nonbank FI. Made all kinds of investment decisions and analysis. Now I have to edit it and reapply. I am applying jobs now and it pisses me off that I can’t use magic letters on my resume.
Hi all, I completely understand your frustrations, but don’t let the time pass without contacting your local societies. For all societies, we pretty much go by what the CFA says, and at least for NYSSA we take about 2-3 weeks to enter the application in our system, review the application, and send invoices. If you see that you have about a week left please contact your society. We process the applications in masses, so the more applications we have the longer it will take. If you contact us it is easier for us to verify that we have your application in and we can tell you what to expect. Keep in mind that the local societies don’t have many people working and most of the entry work is done manually. To answer the question regarding notification about your designation; as soon as you pay CFA Institute they usually send an email notice letting you know that you can use you designation. Alternatively you can check their directory and check if you have CFA after your name. If anyone is waiting on NYSSA please contact us at membership@nyssa.org.
