Just won a World Poker Tour, a relatively smaller pool however, I wonder if this can be a good resume to move into trading role ?
good one +1
Well done. Some danish guy here one some big world cup or whatever they call it, and one 50 million kroner. Thats like nearly 10 mil US!! and I think the kid is 21!
Actually I know people who have leveraged poker really well to get into trading. Here’s an informative thread (I post under the same name at this forum). http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/19/high-stakes-pl-nl/off-topic-options-trading-you-might-like-289600/
There was one famous trader in “Market Wizards” who compares the skills needed to succeed at poker and at trading.
how much you win?

Wow, that’s like winning an NFL or an MBL. I’ve heard people win superbowls or world series, but to actually win an entire tour, that’s impressive.

Congrats Monki, That is one of my dreams
Congratulations! and where did you play, some qualifications online? which site?
I would not say that the one item on your resume with help but if the person who is reading your resume and actually knows what it means it may help. On the flip side if they have no clue… they it may hurt. Lots of people on my desk play cards but even more dont so it is a double edge sword. I bring it up only when the other person says something first on the topic. Congrads on the win.
I really do not see a negative to it. If the person that reads it does not play they will still acknowledge it as an accomplishment that you made.

There’s no hate. I am referring to the phrase “winning a world poker tour” and how that doesn’t make sense. What makes sense is winning: - a world poker tour “tournament” - a world poker tour “championship” - a world poker tour “final table” - a world poker tour “entry” What doesn’t make sense is: - “winning a world poker tour”
Hey it is just a tournament not the whole tour. Texas holdem actually not too popular in my stop so the winnng is not even half a million. I will write lvl 3 in June and hopefully market all be better by then, somebody will gmme a chance hehe

Your post’s intent was to take a shot at him for no reason.
whatever man. how much scrilla did you win? unless its over 15 k IMHO it aint much to brag about. im not pro myself, but have had multiple friends drop out of school and turn pro/try to turn pro and it usually isnt a good long term gig (with 2 exceptions i know of). you said the winning wasnt even a half mil?doea that mean you won a few 100k? if so yeah you are da man!! if you won 10k you are da man to me, but $ talks
brianr, DUDE…take it easy. You should go to “take a joke” school. I hear that they teach some wonderful life lessons applicable to trading and poker. These lessons may keep the blood pressure low and indignation at a minimum. Furthermore, you’ll have a lower tendency to act like a forever vigilant heroic white knight just waiting behind your monitor for the right time to swoop swiftly down with your moral nimble fingers in defense of a hapless victim of such devastating and cruel attacks on “teh internetz”. Anyways, my main point was that monki is not a human being since he does not know English well. They should take away his world poker tour money for that fact - since he’s hardly a human being.
Furthermore, brianr, < additional hostile statements written to amuse myself >
< yet even more hostile statements >
My buddy won $175k in a tournament earlier this year and he’s only 23. He is a machine, he is playing in poker tournaments all over the place now.
