Worth taking a $20,000 pay cut to move from IT to Finance

Currently in the IT department at a major PE firm that pays really well; just got an offer to be an senior acquisition analyst at major firm in the health industry. comes with a $20,000 pay cut. worth it?

=if(young, take, =if(middle age+single, take, think))

sounds like a tight position, as long as it’s progression towards your ultimate career goal. health industry? could be exciting. do you have an exposure to that sector (lets not bring up nurses this time…touchy subject)? Im somewhat in the same boat as you. Moving from sales (wealth mgmt-retail) to research…prob take a similar pay cut at the start

sounds like a fancy way to say you got an offer in corporate development, these positions dont pay well in general

20k seems like a pretty substantial cut. i would prolly do it to get the f__ out of IT

is a couple of years in corporate development (with the low pay cut) good if i want to eventually end up as an analyst in a PE firm?

i hear that. its like pulling teeth here.

wont get exposure to nurses - damn that would have been a no-brainer

It’s not clear to me why some random corp finance job at a drug company is better than IT at a PE firm. Don’t do it just because it’s “finance”. Ask them what your compensation progression will be.

lagbaaja, where you at son, is it a F500?

Yes Sur it is.

I interviewed too with one of those bad boys but after they said the salary range I said “fuggedaboutit”
