Would a CFA help...

to get a job in trading?

Probably not…

But CFA would help if after trading you wanted to become a PM?

I think this would be better training: http://www.amazon.com/Secrets-Mental-Math-Mathemagicians-Calculation/dp/0307338401/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1304621341&sr=8-2

Cfa helps you to identify undervalued penny stocks that are ripe for the picking

^ In that case im going to quit my job 2morrow and study full time for the CFA, thank you very much for your advice blackbelt, much appreciated, must go now and get jar’s and porn

When I was in college, some sperm bank wanted to pay us for sperm (not joking actually). The pay was pretty good also, like $50 a time. There were some criteria, like you can only er… contribute two or three times a week and no “extra-curricular” activities, you had to be a certain height and weight, minimum SAT score, no genetic defects, etc. I didn’t apply, but my friend did it for a while. I never really asked him for further details. Also, I saw this ad in the school newspaper where someone wanted to pay $150,000 for an egg donor.

As a charterholder, I can confirm this.

Ha Also for what Ohai said, egg donors can make some serious money. Average is like 5k to 10k, but you can do it like once a year or something. Harvesting eggs is a bit riskier than sperm donation though.

This actually made me laugh I wonder if the guys over at the CFAI are aware of this new alternative asset class - white gold, maybe set up a sperm fund, could imagine it would be a tiring job that involves alot of thinking at times though

ohai - I actually had a friend do that (no, I don’t mean me) at the same type of place with the same stipulations. The initial screening consisted of interviews with family members so he had to have the awkward conversation of explaining the proposition to his grandmother. …it was good money though and probably the easiest work he’ll ever do.

lol @ ohai’s post. The OP must be wondering what’s wrong with this forum.

^^ How did this thread turn into a discussion about sperm?

There was an article in last weeks Economist on this. Apparently some professional organization of doctors has placed a $5k or $10k (can’t remember) cap in the amount that can be paid per egg. Sophmore year of college I was pretty crazy, and poor. I never donated sperm because the idea of having little BWYFs running around and not knowing who they were freaked me out. I mean, what if I married my daughter as a trophy wife down the road? I did pose nude for art classes, which was both awkward, exhibitionist and, apparently, more useful for meeting gay guys than women. Money was okay and work was easy though.

no.

However, you are better off using the CFA to get a job as an analyst and then work your way up to PM (or get a job as an analyst and do the CFA program concurrently). Analysts grow up to become PMs, traders grow up to become, well … traders. Also, I’d like to say this thread went down some tangential path, but I’m having a difficult time reconciling “sperm donation” as a tangent to “would a cfa help to get a job in trading.” Perhaps there’s a 6-degrees-of-CFA thing going on.
