WOW........Guys on this Forum have me stressin BIG Time !

My first time posting here & writing CFA L1 in June. It’s scary seeing guys getting 70 - 80% on the Schweser & CFAI mock exams. I started the program at begnin of Jan & finished one reading of all course work & EOC questions by end March & thought I had it settled. While covering all the work I honestly couldnt say that I found anything extremely difficult to understand. The only issue was the volume of work. Idea was to use April as a review month & May only for Practice exams & Q Bank. Here’s the PROBLEM…I cant remember most of the work I studied. So come Saturday when I start the practice exams, I think the best Im gonna do is 50% or something. So my question is this…Did u guys only cover all the coursework once over & start taking the practice exams, hitting 70% from the outset?! Coz if that’s the case then Im doomed. For instance, I “browsed” through the Inventories chapter this morning to recap & found myself RE-STUDYING the chapter as if I was looking at it for the very first time. How does one put all this volume to memory. So many concepts & formulas to remember. For me the worst is remembering things like what is allowed under GAAP compared to IFRS.

I hear you cuz. Yeah GAAP and IFRS differences are a real pain, I hate that part. The formula’s aren’t too bad after awhile. I just wrote them all down and one day rewrote them for a couple hours until I had them memorized, it’s not too hard. As for the volume of material there is not much you can do other then repetition repetition repetition. It takes awhile for sure and you’re never going to fully understand 100% of the material. For level I, I did the EOC questions like 3 times each. And don’t pay too much attention with how everyone else is doing. You have to look out for numero uno. You still have lots of time.

for L1? just keep doing qbank man - drills that stuff into your brain - really helps because its rapid fire questions. If theres one reason why i passed L1, its Qbank…

Don’t worry aslamdt, you have lots of time left. Just do as many practice questions as you can and the material will be ingrained in your head. I found that during the last serval weeks of prep for Level 1, I learned more than the whole Fall. Don’t underestimate the power of repetition over these last few weeks. I couldn’t tell you how many times at Level 1 and 2 that I felt like I was fighting a loosing battle. Keep your head up and plow through those QBank questions, Schweser practice exams and most importantly know the CFAI Mock exam cold.

thanx a million guys. Repitition is the message. The advice and encouragement is appreciated. Gud luck 2 u all. Great site
