AF Fantasy Football 2012 - League full

So going forward…Shonn Greene starting? Over who - LeShoure?

Shonn Greene had a career game. You would be buying the high.

Don’t look now, but my team is now .500 and has won two matchups in a row. If you project those two weeks over the remainder of the season, it would mean that I will win the next 10 matchups en route to a championship.

Lets have a moment of silence for team Chefs who lost by 0.02pts this week and dropped to 0-6. Assuming, he is officially out of the championship race.

Phew!!! That was a very close one.

0.02 points…wow. That’s seriously as close as it gets…unbelievable. That’s not even one passing yard…that’s half a yard!

I got in as the last seed in the playoffs last season at 6-7, and ended up losing out on the championships by 1.5 points. Anything can happen – his team should make it if he goes 7-0 or 6-1 the rest of the way!

MJD injured. His backup (Rashad Jennings) could be a good play going forward.

Romo, Vick & Sanchez are one bad game away from losing their spots. Freeman is looking like Montana 2.0.

Another game with no TD for Eli. I guess he’s only useful in playoff fantasy.

Since we can’t vote on the trades in our league a question out to the forum mates

Following trade was approved

Last place team (no shot at playoffs) - GIVE Adrian Peterson, Larry Fitz, Jerome Simpson, Greg Olsen

6th place team (last seed) - GIVE Welker, Mike Vick, Titus Young, Mendenhall

Fair trade or lopsided towards the 6th place team?

I think it was pretty lopsided especially when one guy has no shot at making the playoffs and is giving up a top10 RB & WR and 2 no names for a top 10 WR (welker since its PPR) an injured QB, and 2 question marks

Agreed that AP is on bye this week, so he doesn’t help but Vick is said to be out 2 games. I just feel like this was a AP/Fitz for Welker/Mendenhall trade and that is not fair on any level

Don’t get fooled by the noise. The only 2 players worth mentioning in that trade are Peterson and Welker. The rest is just filler. Peterson has more value than Welker.

Hi ZeroBonus, since you posted your message in the boards and also here, I’ll post my response here as well.

Thanks all for your thoughts. I have a couple observations. First, this trade was offered to me and I thought it was fair, so I accepted. Others in this league had ample opportunity to make me fair trade offers in the ten prior weeks, but either didn’t make trade offers or didn’t want to make them fair. We’re all consenting and thoughtful adults here and I think we’re all trying to make our teams better – if someone really thought a trade was bad for their team, why would they even offer it? Not to mention that the fact that you’re calling out my team as being a “fringe playoff team” or the other guy being in last place is only slightly insulting… The trade was pending for over a day and people could have posted their thoughts on this forum or e-mailed me or the other commissioner. That’s why there are two commissioners instead of one, and that’s why there is also a forum where people can discuss. Nobody posted anything while the trade was live, and nobody contacted the commissioners either. When we started this AnalystForum league two years ago, the participants voted in favor of having commissioner reviews instead of league votes. Moreover, there have been far more requests from managers (including you guys) to have trades processed early (i.e. before a Sunday) than having them protested. You don’t have that option in a league voting system, as there’s simply a timeline that trades have to go through no matter the circumstance. We opened the same issue for discussion at the beginning of this season, and still people were OK with having a commissioner review instead of a league vote. It’s fine if people want to change the trade format for next year, but it’s not as though it wasn’t offered up for discussion. Lastly, regarding the trade, Adrian Peterson is a very good runningback and I think about getting him when I can, even if he’s on bye. But I also give up Wes Welker, was the second highest scoring WR last year and is top 10 again this year. Maybe ZeroBonus thinks Fitzgerald is better than Welker, and everyone’s entitled to their own view, but I would have loved to see this trade happen if I didn’t have to give up Welker. Phrased differently, I’d take Welker over Fitzgerald any day of the week (and I’m guessing the manager that offered me the trade had the same view). Titus Young is a #3 WR with upside, Rashard Mendenhall is back this week and is a starting runningback on a run-first team (making him a fair #2 RB), and Michael Vick is injured but he was still averaging almost 20 points a game and maybe he recovers from the concussion and comes back. It’s fine if you don’t like Michael Vick but there were two other managers that were willing to make a bet that you weren’t, and tried to get him from me this week.

So earlier in the week i put a straight bet OF $200 on Atlanta receiving +1 vs Tampa.

But last night I saw a mis-priced spread in basketball on Charlotte vs the winless Wizards. I decided to do a bunch of parlays using Charlotte as the anchor because that shit was too good to be true. Parlays are better if you’re confident about a game as you can win just as much with less of an outlay. So i was pretty confident in Charlotte and Atlanta so i made parlays using those as my anchors. Last night Charlotte won so my parlays are coming true. Last night I decided that I would hedge my Atlanta exposure because why risk my own $200 straight up when i already have parlays that would pay me just as much without as much risk??? Last night I got Tampa +1. This way the bets would cancel out. But look at the numbers closely. If the game is like Atlanta wins by 24-23, I would push the Tampa bet but win on the Atlanta bet. and that’s what happened. I put in a hedge with total upside when the difference in the score is by 1. I won $200 kinda with no risk~!!!

For those in the playoffs this week (in head to head format), how exactly are you setting your lineup? Are you going with the best player or are you micromanaging and going with the player with the best matchup?

I started Luck and Eli all year, but both face tough defenses this week (HOU and ATL). Rivers and Palmer are on my bench and facing easier opponents (CAR and KC). Not sure if I should go with the guys that brought me here so far or try to be cute and play the matchups. It’s win or go home.

I think talent and team’s record trumps matchup in your case.

If Indy falls behind early, then you will get a ton of garbage time production from Luck, plus Houston has gotten shredded by QBs over the past 4 weeks. Atl/NY game is also big for both in locking up their division and ATl looking for the # 1 seed.

The only change I would even ‘think’ about making is Palmer over Eli (just in case Wilson has a monster game and Eli isn’t needed) but Oakland plays ugly football

By the way, after posting this I went 1-7 in the final 8 weeks of the regular season.

Unbelievable.

Another great season for the AnalystForum Fantasy Football league.

Congrats to the winners. I have just allocated the payouts on leaguesafe.com and I would expect it to take a couple weeks to process the payments.
