any good book suggestions?

Finished Lone Survivor a few days ago. Talk about courage, honor, teamwork… Heard they will be making it into a movie.

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Pirsig very good very inspiring

Too Big to Fail is a very good read

Just finished Washington, A Life by Ron Chernow. Very good biography of the General/President. Now reading The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown. Decision Points by Bush on deck.

I like Rogue Trader by Nick Leeson. Also, Secrets of Power Negotiating by Roger Dawson is one of the better books on negotiation.

Animal spirits , by george akerlof and robert shiller

Really good read: “Lords of Finance” http://www.amazon.com/Lords-Finance-Great-Depression-Bankers/dp/009949308X/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1293006934&sr=8-2 The similarities between what happened in the 20s and the current state of the economy is amazing! Same problems, same mistakes, same hurts…

Read “Lone Survivor.” The story was intriguing, but would have preferred it be written a bit more humbly without all of the over-the-top machoism. I’m about 80 pages into “Diary of a Very Bad Year” and I think anyone that was watching the news and paying attention in 2008 would love it, especially people in the industry.

recently read: Decision Points by George Bush. Good behind the scenes look at the major issues of his presidency. Finding Pablo - easy read about the hunt for Pablo Escobar The Last Boy - story about the life of Mickey Mantle (that guy loved the booze and ladies) now reading: When Money Dies - the story of hyperinflation in post WWI Germany. interesting story but not an easy read.

Special Forces are macho dudes Bankin, don’t think it could have been written any other way! I am reading Thomas Sowell’s “Knowledge and Decisions” probably the most insightful and also most difficult book I have ever read. This is for true econ geeks only… and I don’t think there is a single number in the text.

Chi Paul Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Special Forces are macho dudes Bankin, don’t think > it could have been written any other way! Definitely not questioning the mental / physical toughness of people in the Special Forces and perhaps there was some charm in the unfiltered bravado, but it wore on me personally. Just a minor criticism, I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

A few of my favorite reads, is no particular order: -Lost Horizon- well written with a nice philosophy to it. -Catch 22- indescribable. Just a great read. -Old Goriot- despite being set in Paris in the 1800’s, it relates a lot to the flaws in today’s society. -Wind in the Willows (yes it’s a children’s book, but it’s a very enjoyable classic) -Down and out in Paris and London- enjoyable commentary on the poor and the flaws with the way those cities deal with them. -To Have and Have Not- best love story I’ve ever read. Doesn’t ever use the word, but he’d do anything to provide for his family -Les Miserables- bit of an epic, but if you can get through the various asides on unrelated topics, it’s wonderful. -Germinal- a great read if you can see past the socialism in it. -Anything by Alexandre Dumas is pure enjoyment. He was the ultimate storyteller. I read enough about finance while at work or studying.
