Band 2 anyone?

Dreary - I failed in band 2 last year and contemplated quitting the program. I pulled up my socks this year and put in more work than I thought possible and passed with 6 sections >70%. Trust me, there’s no better feeling that kicking that exam’s butt after contemplating letting it force you out of the program. You can do it.

I’ve never seen such low bands from such intelligent people. While not as surprising as many of the others, I failed as well.

You too JAM? Holy cr*p! If you tell me that you were like band 4 or something I am not buying it. Man, we really lost a lot of good folks this round, scary.

I didn’t want to be part of this group! :frowning: (band 9)

L2 chewed me up and spit me out. Like Map, I ended up band 5. I knew that I didn’t do well on the exam, but I thought I knew the info better than that. Perhaps I fell into a lot of traps. Anyway, I intend on retaking next year. I just hope that I give a better performance then.

I’m in the same position as you guys. Band 10 last year but band 4 this year. I was pretty confident I did better this year! I scored less than 50% on ethics which was shocking… I thought I nailed ethics as I studied it so hard. I really don’t understand how I failed. Also thinking of a retab but I did that last year to no avail. Unfortunately, the cfa exam is like a hedge fund’s quant black box… don’t know what you’re going to get on the other side.

I hate to be the assclown here, as I am completely shocked that a lot of these people didn’t pass, especially cpk, but is there any correlation at all to spending too much time on this forum and not doing well on the exam? I truly ask that out of respect for those guys, map1, cpk, cfablackbelt, etc., but is there something to this question? I can’t believe some of you guys were band 1,2,5… it just seems like something is very wrong here. Perhaps less time on this forum is needed? Your contributions last Spring were priceless, but perhaps let some other people take that role next time? Who knows, I would’ve bet the ranch on all you guys/gals passing…

I failed band 3. I expected to fail but I didn’t expect band 3! Something doesn’t seem right. My coworker passed level one in december with above 70 in almost everything and put in a TON of time for level 2. He was getting in the 60’s and 70’s with Schweser and thought the test was straightforward and was sure he passed. He was really pissed off when he found out he was band 3, it doesn’t even seem possible. He just got his results today, they had issues uploading his score and had to wait 2 whole day!! Right there tells you that CFA an issue with the test scores.

I am with you guys, I was band 3 too, and while i thought i wasn’t likely to pass (band 8-10) I am having a hard time stomaching that score, especially with FI where i got <50 when I was sure I got >70. Seeing how some of you guys helped me with your posts I don’t get how you did as poorly as I did. I just don’t see how a bunch of people who did well over 350 hrs of studying could do this bad.

The CFA people actually said to my coworker “we have had some issues uploading the scores”

are you f*cking kidding me? In the immortal words of dennis in always sunny…terrible, take a lap.

Frankly I don’t disagree with your comment. In fact, this is exactly my feeling after two attempts on L2. To me, it’s more like a contest of the will than a test of knowledge. So you either be very prepared and accept a small probability of failure, or you do not prepare well and accept failure with almost certainty. That’s how I feel about L2.

Extremely surprising news guys… well I guess I’ll be in good company next year, I failed band 8

I was almost 99% certain that I got at least 70% for the test… and yet I still failed on a band 10… Thought CFAI must have seriously screwed up my test score initally… Now, seeing this many postings with test score surprises, I think the chance of me getting a grade change is slim… CFAI just sent me an email saying the last time they had a grade change after retab was several years ago…

hey everBB , did they communicate anythng abt the time reuired to re grade the test? when will they get back with the new result? before the first deadline of June 2010 (23rd sept)?

the retab form stated it takes 30-60 days, and the form also says" “We strongly encourage you to enroll for the appropriate level of the examination while awaiting the result of your retabulation to ensure you do not miss any deadlines.” suggest you register for the exam if you are not yet sick of it …
