Band 2 anyone?

I am so shocked to hear all this. I mean CPK, you are legend to me… Any chance you want to get it remarked, with the konwledge you hold, you can’t get 4 areas below 50. I second what thealiman said, you are a truely intellegent guy! You deserve a pass there. can’t believe we can’t have you next year there… Dreary, QuickJock_MBA, if you guys score band 10, I will say it is bad luck, no way it is band 1, 2. Are you guys going to retab? I had a friend who couldn’t believe her score and did a retab and it turned out they put a wrong paper for her score and they found her exam paper and eventually grant her a pass. It is definitely a shock…

I have been through this pain last year. it is very difficult to explain cpk failing. i can’t figure this. Somehow i feel 3 choices are one of the reasons. looking at the result thread i feel the pass mark is around 60-62% this year and considering that a monkey could get 33% correct, i feel the lowest score would be around 48-49%. That means even a band 1 scored a 50% and a person who passed by a whisker scored 60%. You guys should not feel too low and kill this next time. you are not as far off as it seems. i was band 8 last year and this year i got above 70% in all but one section of equity where it was between 50-70%.

I said long time ago, this freaking 3 mp change is BS. It brings down the people who really study and try to get an answer right, instead it created volatility for those people who had better luck guessing on the exam day. BS about the 4th answer isnot revelant. IT IS only not REVELANT for people who know the stuffs, not for monkeys who just does random guess. cpk, I am sure if they throw an exam to you right now, you would pass with a flying score. It is just an unfair exam with gambling features of casinos. Means nothing about person’s ability. You are golden one way or the other. I appreciate your help on the forum and I am sure you would nail it like the Global TOP 1% canadiate next time.

Dreary, Think I am on the same boat. I was expecting a good pass and this is my second attempt. Really do not know what is going on… they must have packed a lot of tricks in the questions that I am not even aware of…

hey cpk, shocked to hear about your results. i just pased L3. i remember you were one of the more knowledgeable and helpful ones for Dec 07 L1 when we took it. this exam is unfair.

NYC

Map and I are located in the Midwest, her email is map1map at gmail if you wish to speak with her personally. Map1 is extremely personable and intelligent. It kills me to learn someone like her failed this exam.

Hey nyccfa, I know u don’t know me…as i came to know this forum only after the exam… but I felt this is one gud site for even networking… coming to the point, wud u mind to name ur company… i graduated like in May from Kelley and desperately trying to get a job as research analyst… P.S i am not faking anything !!!

There was once a guy on this forum that many people hated named Semper Augustus, who had to leave the forum. He passed level II this year, but had failed it in 2008. It’s part of the game, guys. He sends you guys his regards.

i got a Band 2 as well. i am still in shock but i most say i am more shocked that CPK and Dreary are in this Band as well. This exam is so unfair

Is this true. CPK, cfablackbelt failed??? Unbelievable. I seriously benefited from cpk’s posts lurking around here. This guy truly gave me jitters before the exam, when I thought of how better prepared he was and how he knew all the minute details. This is truly a shocker. What about ditch? He contributed so much with his lunch crunch’s. I had days when office took so much time, I could’nt spare even an hour to study and lunch crunch on AF was the only thing I managed for the day and it helped. It sure did. I am so thankful to these people and shocked at some of these results. kevincwang Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I am so shocked to hear all this. > > I mean CPK, you are legend to me… Any chance you > want to get it remarked, with the konwledge you > hold, you can’t get 4 areas below 50. This clearly shows that the normal distribution curve this year is very leptokurtic. The 3 answers raised the monkey score to 33% and the ridiculous difficulty of the level 2 paper reduced the mean of the top performers - I’d bet 70% of people had around the 55-65% mark. So pass/fail was decided on getting only a couple of total guesses right/wrong.

CP You definitely passed. If it was me and I knew as much as you did I would not ask but I would demand a retabluation. The ONLY way I can see you not passing this exam is if you started bubbling in the questions out of sequence (you answered question 23 on question 24 in the scantron then answered question 24 on question 25 in the cantron etc. all the way through) . This almost happened to me this year before I caught it and fixed it but it could happen and you never know. If you are 100% sure that was not the case then I would highly highly encourage you to retab it. You were answering tough questions on here left and right and your exam scores reflected you vast knowledge on the material. If you didn’t pass than 95% of AFers should not have passed (which means I definitely should have failed). Dreary and quantjock, I would definitely retab because band 1 and 2 IS extremely low espicially since you guys put in some time. I think they made a mistake at CFAI and I would highly encourage all three of you to retab since those results are no where near the true representation of what you all knew you answered right on the exam day.

Frickin shocking. I can only guess that there was some serious exam day anxiety. You 2010 L2’ers are going to see how lucky you are to have cpk around.

Band 1 or 2 are people who did not study at all for whatever reason, but just decide to give the exam a go. I would definitely retabulate. Shit happens with scanners.

I was band 2 as well. I was giving myself a 50/50 shot of passing, so I was absolutely shocked to see band 2. Still can’t believe it. My last Schweser practice tests were >70 and above the average, so I have no clue how I’d end up in band 2. I highly doubt it, but is there any way to get more info from CFA? Anyone doing a retab?

Sad to hear that …even i have failed i know how it feels

Though I wasn’t band 2, a fail is a fail (band 8). I was also very surprised and thought I did better. What’s harder to accept, is I’m hearing from friends/colleagues who were certain they failed, and yet they ended up passing.

I’m thinking of retabbing being in band 4. I was getting close to 80% on the mock tests and 90% on one of the quizes and 85% on the QBANK. Last year I was a band 7 with significantly less studying. Wierd…
