sorry i might be naive …but are cpk, dreary, cfablackbelt,map1 gave there 1st attempt or 2nd attempt
I think we are all at our first time L2. cpk123 going down is really a shock, I would have never expected it.
sorry to hear that well see you people in december for discussion of studies…i will remain active this time… Bye
CPK, I’m honestly tempted to pay for your retab fee myself (I’m not that nice, I just really want you up in the L3 forum to help me out with some shit when I have questions). There were a bunch of surprise fails, and I hope you take this in the way in which it’s intended, but yours absolutely shocked me. From all of us who did squeeze a pass, I’d like to thank you for all of your selfless help. Keep your head up, man.
wow…absolutely shocking.
Map 1 …are you thinking for retabulation ? well remaining regulares are thinking of retabulation ?
Although my score was ridiculously low compared to my expectations, I would rather go from Chi-town to Milwaukee to see Jerry Seinfeld doing a stand-up than pay $100 more for NOTHING. So, the short answer is NO.
map1 what band were you?
An amazing band 5.

Looking back at it, I really can’t be too upset. I didn’t start studying for thing until late February, which means ~3 months for studying. Things don’t usually come that easily for me and I have to put in a lot of work where others may not have to. I must say though that this test is really strange. CPK and MAP1 seemed to have a better understanding of the material than I did. I also have noticed a lot of people getting down on band comparisons to last year. I have to say that it seems to be irrelevant as this test was different. As far as a retab? No. I did not deserve to pass the exam. But then again… none of us deserved a suprise wierd a$$ exam that didn’t seem very comparable to anything I saw from the CFAI. Total BS there.
The exam this year is just messed up. Even though I failed by a margin (band 10), I was no where near as prepared as all you regulars. Also I wonder why the L1 passing rate this year is so ridiculously high! 46% compared to 31% from the exam before. I feel like we have all been victims of CFAI’s guinea pig experiment this year.
Level 2 exams have and will always be weird - thats the truth of it all my friend. be it treynor black model vignette in 2007 or the real-estate vignette in 2008. i dont think the exam is designed to test how deep ur understanding of financial statements or alt. assets is - which in my opinion all the regulars at AF mastered at - but it is designed to surprise you with topics which u thought dont need any understanding - read, quality of financial statements, application of quant et al. the gist of level2 is that there is no guarantee for anyone to pass - if ur preparation is better than others than you have a higher probability - THAT’S ALL!! you still have to hit it out of the park.

Dreary - I failed in band 2 last year and contemplated quitting the program. I pulled up my socks this year and put in more work than I thought possible and passed with 6 sections >70%. Trust me, there’s no better feeling that kicking that exam’s butt after contemplating letting it force you out of the program. You can do it.
I’ve never seen such low bands from such intelligent people. While not as surprising as many of the others, I failed as well.
You too JAM? Holy cr*p! If you tell me that you were like band 4 or something I am not buying it. Man, we really lost a lot of good folks this round, scary.
I didn’t want to be part of this group! (band 9)

L2 chewed me up and spit me out. Like Map, I ended up band 5. I knew that I didn’t do well on the exam, but I thought I knew the info better than that. Perhaps I fell into a lot of traps. Anyway, I intend on retaking next year. I just hope that I give a better performance then.
I’m in the same position as you guys. Band 10 last year but band 4 this year. I was pretty confident I did better this year! I scored less than 50% on ethics which was shocking… I thought I nailed ethics as I studied it so hard. I really don’t understand how I failed. Also thinking of a retab but I did that last year to no avail. Unfortunately, the cfa exam is like a hedge fund’s quant black box… don’t know what you’re going to get on the other side.
I hate to be the assclown here, as I am completely shocked that a lot of these people didn’t pass, especially cpk, but is there any correlation at all to spending too much time on this forum and not doing well on the exam? I truly ask that out of respect for those guys, map1, cpk, cfablackbelt, etc., but is there something to this question? I can’t believe some of you guys were band 1,2,5… it just seems like something is very wrong here. Perhaps less time on this forum is needed? Your contributions last Spring were priceless, but perhaps let some other people take that role next time? Who knows, I would’ve bet the ranch on all you guys/gals passing…
