a few Demands include:

  • Decriminalizing drug use and dealing. Decriminalizing prostitution. Making this retroactive to those already incarcerated.
  • Guaranteed minimum income for all black people
  • Free college and payment of all living expenses and healthcare costs for all black people including those who are undocumented or incarcerated
  • Tax high earners 80%, increase capital gains tax, increase estate tax create an anti-speculation tax
  • Pass a $2 to $4 trillion policy that would create government jobs for Blacks

I know lol gets thrown around loosely a lot on the internet… but I truly just lol’ed. Might as well throw full legalization of all fantasy sports into there too.

They also want a commission to study reparations for descendants of slaves.

You have to go to the website and read through the demands section, particularly under reparations to get the full impact.

Maybe this is extremely callous, but from a strictly NPV perspective reparations never made sense to me. Arguably most descendants would have just wound up in West Africa and statistically poorer with literacy rates in the region ranging between 38 and 50%.

Do they mention how you qualify as black? DNA test? Do you still get benefits if your ancestors were American slave owners?

I’m assuming a portion of the proceeds will come from the Africans that initially sold them into slavery.

+1. I generally sympathize with several of their arguments but god this list of demands is laughable. It just gives ammo for people to ignore them because they dont seem to have any interest in any other minority.

I am trying to figure out whether: 1) BLM is running a calculated campaign whose rhetoric has been carefully designed to elicit a specific public response, or 2) they just lost it. Kind of leaning on 2) at the moment.

I think Obama needs to publicly denounce this movement. The only way forward for blacks is to introspectively change under real leadership, and who else can provide this but the black President? This forced victim mentality is the reason why they stay poor and backwards while the rest of the country moves on. Unfortunately, this cannot happen while Obama still has ties to the Democratic party, which will be for the rest of his life…

didnt see BBGs speech but that line is killer. The fact that the 1mm is secondary in his success to his fathers business connections makes it even better. Daddy pulling strings to get tax abatements and to keep his casino afloat shows how much his father did for him.
