Canada prepares for The Return of the Orange Man

Governor Blackface apparently played a role in The Return of the Orange Man.
During Covid, Canadian truckers converged on Ottawa, the nation’s capital, for a protest.
Governor Blackface responded by invoking the Emergencies Act which claimed unprecedented powers and authority (which a federal court later found to be unconstitutional), including the seizure of citizens’ bank accounts – not only of those who were present at the demonstrations in Ottawa, but even anybody who contributed funds to the protestors.

The Emergencies Act is legislation that was passed but never used during the reign of Trudeau’s father (Pierre Trudeau) when Quebec separatists kidnapped and murdered a British diplomat.

People around the world were stunned and horrified by Governor Blackface’s actions.
In particular, Trump’s Kennedy seems to have been profoundly affected, and came to realize the importance of what he calls `transactional freedom’.

He sounds more like a libertarian than a liberal.
Following that Bitcoin conference, people started floating the idea of a Trump-Kennedy ticket.

Orange Man administration & Co came to Munich last weekend and tore up what was left of the old defense framework in Europe. JD Vance delivered a scathing speech, which was a pretty good wake up call for the European leaders. Funny thing in the speech was the sharp criticism of antidemocratic actions in Romania. He had a point though but given how Vance’s own boss attempted to overturn an election he lost, it seemed like the pot was calling the kettle black.

Anywho, Europe is now officially a ballless and clawless kitten scrambling to organize crisis meetings and whatnot while the real shot callers head to Saudi Arabia to determine Ukraine’s future.

I found it odd that it’s in Saudi. I guess the traditional neutral countries (Swiss, Finland, Sweden) are no longer neutral.

edit 2: Energy Secretary Chris Wright Implores Europeans to ‘Return to Sobriety’ on Climate, Energy

If you make energy more expensive and less reliable, as the United Kingdom has done over the
last couple of decades, you lower the standard of living of your population, shrink their opportunity set,
and you simply export your industry.

No one’s going to make an energy-intensive product in the United Kingdom anymore.
It’s just been displaced somewhere else. It’s going to be made in a coal-powered factory in China,
loaded on a diesel-powered ship to get down the river, on a bigger diesel-powered ship to be unloaded

Interesting take from the Orange Man.

I really hope there’s some 3D chess mastermind plan behind this deal. Right now, from the outside, one could get an impression that Putin is pulling a fast one and taking the geopolitical amateur from NYC for a joyride. Showing once again why he’s been running the show in Kreml for 25+ years.

Let’s post what President Trump said on Wednesday on Truth Social:
It’s always helpful to see what was actually said.

Think of it, a modestly successful comedian, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, talked the United States of
America into spending $350 Billion Dollars, to go into a War that couldn’t be won, that never had to
start, but a War that he, without the U.S. and “TRUMP,” will never be able to settle. The United
States has spent $200 Billion Dollars more than Europe, and Europe’s money is guaranteed,
while the United States will get nothing back.

Why didn’t Sleepy Joe Biden demand Equalization, in that this War is far more important to Europe
than it is to us — We have a big, beautiful Ocean as separation. On top of this, Zelenskyy admits
that half of the money we sent him is “MISSING.” He refuses to have Elections, is very low in
Ukrainian Polls, and the only thing he was good at was playing Biden “like a fiddle.”

A Dictator without Elections, Zelenskyy better move fast or he is not going to have a Country left.
In the meantime, we are successfully negotiating an end to the War with Russia, something all admit
only “TRUMP,” and the Trump Administration, can do. Biden never tried, Europe has failed to bring
Peace, and Zelenskyy probably wants to keep the “gravy train” going. I love Ukraine, but Zelenskyy
has done a terrible job, his Country is shattered, and MILLIONS have unnecessarily died – And so it
continues……

Not sure what part of that, if any, is untrue.
There was a coup in Ukraine in 2014 in which the usual suspects (neocons Victoria Nuland and John McCain) were involved, following which ethnic Russians in Ukraine lost their language rights. Crimea, which Khrushchev gave to Ukraine in 1954, voted to rejoin Russia, while a civil war erupted when the Donbas, which Lenin gave to Ukraine as an inducement to join the USSR, voted to separate from Ukraine.
Two deals were made to end that civil war, Minsk and Minsk2. Under both, Donbas would have remained part of Ukraine but with greater autonomy. Ukraine agreed to both but implemented neither.

President Zelenskyy’s term was due to end in May 2024.
Elections have been postponed and he remains in power.

The previous day, Tuesday, President Trump made some remarks during a press conference:

“I could have made a deal for Ukraine that would have given him almost all of the land, everything,
almost all of the land, and no people would have been killed, and no city would have been demolished,
and not one dome would have been knocked down… Biden, in all fairness, he doesn’t have a clue
— he was so bad for this.”

Ukraine is not winning this war, and the longer it goes on, the more Ukrainians will die and the more Ukraine will have to give up. But the neocons think it is a cheap way to inflict harm on Russia with someone else doing the dying.

Vice-President J.D.Vance added on X:

For three years, President Trump and I have made two simple arguments:
first, the war wouldn’t have started if President Trump was in office;
second, that neither Europe, nor the Biden administration, nor the Ukrainians had any pathway to
victory.
This was true three years ago, it was true two years ago, it was true last year, and it is true today.

And for three years, the concerns of people who were obviously right were ignored.

Kash Patel, who helped expose the Russiagate hoax, has been confirmed (FBI) 51-49 by the Senate.
Sen.s Murkowski and Collins voted no, while turtle surprised everyone and voted yes. Thank you Senator McConnell.
Kennedy (HHS) and Hegseth (Def) have already been confirmed, so the only one that didn’t get through (because he withdrew) was Gaetz (at Justice).

Kennedy has enough on his plate already with Maha, but there’s a new preprint (so not yet peer-reviewed) study, with most of the researchers at Yale, which finds that the spike protein from the Covid vax can stay in the body for as long as 2 years. The study suggests that at least some cases of “long Covid” are in fact vaccine injury, which the authors term PVS (post-vaccination syndrome).
The authors stress that “COVID-19 vaccines have prevented millions of COVID-19 deaths,” but go on to say that “a small fraction of the population reports a chronic debilitating condition” (post-vaccination syndrome).
One of the authors is Akiko Iwasaki, a former president of the American Association of Immunologists who favored COVID vaccine mandates and had called safety concerns about mRNA vaccines “absurd” in 2021.

Ukraine Caves

The Trump administration is close to a deal with Ukraine for access to hundreds of billions of dollars
worth of mineral rights in a giant step toward ending Russia’s brutal war on the European nation just

Kellogg, believed to be one of the few Trump administration officials still supportive of Ukrainian
President Volodymyr Zelensky, began his two-day trip back to the US without confirming a deal
that the White House has pushed hard for
— but which high-level officials in Zelensky’s government view as a shakedown.

lol. How many hundred billion dollars has Zelenskyy gotten out of the US government and they’re accusing the US of a shakedown ?

https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/1161

“This bill authorizes the President to enter into negotiations with the government of Denmark to purchase or otherwise acquire Greenland. The bill also renames Greenland as Red, White, and Blueland.”

The most likely path for Greenland to join the US seems to be for the Greenlanders to declare independence from the colonial power (Denmark) and then make some sort of deal with the US.

When Erik the Red settled Greenland in 985, the Dorset people were already living there. In the 13th Century, the Dorset people were `replaced’ (whatever that means) by the Thule, an Inuit people who migrated from mainland Canada. The Vikings had arrived during the Medieval Warm Period and appear to have disappeared during the Little Ice Age, with theories ranging from the climate to being wiped out by the Thule to simply packing up and moving to Iceland and/or Norway.
Greenland was originally a Norwegian colony, and at some point the kingdoms of Norway and Denmark were united as a result of marriage. When the union dissolved, Denmark kept Greenland, which is how it came to be the colonial power.

Me thinks that Denmark will get an “offer they can’t refuse”

Its kinda intriguing logic we have here. If we start deciding who owns what based on how things were 1,000 years ago, where do we even stop? Should Norway take back Greenland because they had it first? Should Mongolia reclaim half of Eurasia because Genghis Khan once ruled it? Should Italy demand control over France and Spain because of the Roman Empire?

That’s the same kind of logic China is trying to push with Taiwan. If we start redrawing borders based on some ancient map, then no country is safe from someone coming in and saying that “Tanks, this used be to ours” - this applies to the US as well.

I’d like to know what the Danes think behind closed doors - PM Mette Frederiksen is apparently livid about the situation.

Danish PM consults European allies as unease over Greenland grows

Denmark has been one of the U.S.'s most loyal allies, standing by in pretty much every major conflict and mission since the 2000s. Trying to buy part of their territory, like it’s some 19th-century colonial land deal is not exactly “hearts and minds” diplomacy. What kind of message does this send?

Taiwan was occupied by the KMT (Chinese nationalists) who fled there at the end of the Civil War.
The Chi-Nazis in Beijing have been trying to annex Taiwan since then, and there have been at least three Straits crises, and at least one of those (the First Taiwan Strait Crisis (1954-1955). ) came close to going nuclear.

Taiwan has its own indigenous people who are distinct and neither Japanese nor Chinese and should be allowed to chart their own future.

The big beautiful bill passed the House 217-215 with but one Republican dissenter (Thomas Massie, who wants spending cut), so on to the Senate.
The Senate would prefer to break the big beautiful bill up into several smaller bills, probably in the hope that the bits they don’t like would die.
The House bill encompasses much of President Trump’s agenda including renewing the tax cuts and border security.

edit: added: The libertarian-leaning Rep. Massie hails from Kentucky and is said to be considering a run for Mitch McConnell’s Senate seat (turtle is retiring from the Senate in 2026).
It would certainly be a change from turtle.
