CFA 2017 - Official Mock - Scores

AM: 68

PM:70

I too felt that the PM had a lot of material that I had not witnessed in topic tests or other mocks. I was scoring around the same for lvl1 and lvl2 (roughly 73% on the CFAI mocks) and cleared both with quite a bit of wiggle room. However, I am not assuming this test will be the same and plan on going over the 2017 official mocks and AM exams (2009-2016) until the exam.

The liquidity question got me too. She will have a shortfall after taxes because her expenses are 150K.

I also think memorizing formulas which you need for about 25% of the exam at the minimum is not very realistic and life like…in real life you will have access to those and built into spreadsheet model or software so not just one issue with these exams… in almost all other professional designations I have completed (to name couple CLU and CFP both also with 45-55% pass rates) you are provided all the formulas and your knowledge is tested on concepts and what the outcome mean…not plugging in numbers… but this will only get worst with all the quant material in fintech coming down the pipe in 2019 curriculum changes… so better pass this year or next…

CFA Mock AM 77 / PM 70, made them both today. PM was brutal on Private Wealth, too much info. I have done a many practice exams from various providers and sources and scores started mid 50’s a few weeks ago and are now mid 70’s, hope it is enough to get this torture over with

I probably got the lowest scores - 53%AM/ 52% PM, not sure if there is anything that can be done at this point. I was averaging 65% in schweser AM and 73% in schweser PM.

By looking at the posted scores have shattered my confidence toward the exam…

82% on the AM

Hey All,

Just to make sure I’m not completely losing my marbles at this point…both the CFA AM and PM mock exams are multiple choice right? I spent a while this morning trying to find a CFA mock AM written section, but guess that is not what they provide??

Thanks!

Correct, both are multiple choice. I combined them with AM sections of prior exams and built to full exams.

Try not to let it affect you. These scores don’t mean squat. What matters is the score on Saturday. Keep reviewing, stay rested and walk into the exam feeling good and do your best.

Good luck!

Nobody should be discouraged by lower scores. While it does probably hurt your probability to pass, what is more important is to understand the questions in these mock exams for the final test. Plus, people who are scoring in the 80’s on this forum are a shoe in to pass and one should not compare to them. That doesn’t mean your 55% or 65% has no chance. I have passed the first two with lower practice test scores (50s-60s) but before the exam I knew everything on those tests.

my problem is that i keep forgetting. i go over the same stuff again and again. :frowning:

Thanks!

Finally completed both and not so great at 63% on AM and 68% on PM… good news lots of time left on those but I am yet to do a AM under timed environment which is the harder one for my anyway yikes…

AM: 63

PM: 77

I’m still in shock…couldn’t believe my PM score…I checked twice to make sure I didn’t misgrade.Thought I was going to get 50s for PM as it was so tricky and I only had about 15 minutes left vs AM I had about an hour. I did guess two questions correctly so by discount 73 is more about the right level.

Did AM yesterday and PM today. 65% and 70% respectively.

Find it hard maybe I only read Schweser notes? Now I really wish the people on this forum has a higher passing rate or I don’t think I’ll be in the top 50% based on the scores in this chain :frowning:

Right there with you. 2017 AM 70% 2 weeks ago and then bombed 2017 PM with a 63% today. Total gut punch. Did PM today along with 2016 AM and got a 64% on the AM. I’ve done ten AM mocks and managed to push them into the 60s with pretty tough grading.

Just gonna do TT over and over again now and brush up on weak areas. Getting a cerveza tonight, I need it.

I’m right with you on that.

My average scores so far are

Schweser AM 64%

Schweser PM 59%

CFAI AM 74%

CFAI PM 55%

Things are looking bleak!

Question 33 is tricky but the question isn’t from a general perspective its tied to the item set. In my opinion CFA does a terrible job of this and it trips a lot of people up. Basically the manager wants to lower duration however the swap they are describing in is recieve fixed and pay floating so that will increase duration. Buy puts will decrease duration, remember duration is a measure of how much loss can be incurred. Writing calls wont limit the duration. So puts are the only option in the his scenario.

Question 37 is also based on context, the mandates are that the fund has to have a g ood information ratio and also stay true to style. The manager C does not stay true to the growth style because the weights are more toward value.

72 and 72. Just finished the AM, felt like I got 80+% after but then I remembered I haven’t studied Ethics or GIPS (5/12) sigh. I know what I’ll be doing Thurs/Fri…
