Capital One teams with Uber

  • Beginning today, Quicksilver cardholders will receive 20% back on all Uber rides through April 2016 when they pay using their Quicksilver or QuicksilverOne card, Also - for a limited time - eligible Capital One (NYSE:COF) cardholders who are new to the service will receive their first two rides free.

lol funny. i actually started an uber business with friends and family. Not going to share the real details cuz of the number 2 though. If you want to find out, take the risk, if not, get back to your books  But net net its good for society, someone gets a cheaper ride, someone gets a job. and i make money? maybe? right?

wait! so the driver owns the cab in us? here in india…ola/meru/taxi for sure own the cabs and the drivers all paid a fixed sort of salary and all the expenses(petrol etc) are borne by ola/meru.

Depends where you are in the US. In NYC, the majority of taxis are owed by private companies who hire drivers. In other places, drivers often own their vehicles.

^In San Antonio’s Yellow Cab company, they supply all the cars, and they cost a flat $80 per day. The driver keeps everything over that. Drivers can keep the car as long as they want, but if they turn it back in, they may not get another car for two weeks.

^ My guess is that in most good-sized cities, the cabs are predominantly company owned and it other areas they are owned by the driver.

^ the hospital that the good doctor worked at has suspended her

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/miami-doctor-anjali-ramkissoon-youtube-video-uber-driver-florida/

i think her medical career is in serious jeopardy

I took an Uber from the hospital where I have classes and research the other day. I was chatting with this dude for about 15 min. He said that he wanted to become a doctor since he was a young boy. He was like 45. I was like oh ok - do you have another job? He said he did and that he was doing part-time uber work until he had a fall out with his boss and said f-u and left. So now he is working uber full time and says he likes it.

My thoughts from this conversation was that many people are coming to depend on uber as a source of income with little possibilities to switch into other fields.

Doesn’t this make them susceptible for Uber to lower wages or at least stop increasing driver wages year to year (inflation increases)? I think a handful of people have pigeonholed themselves into Uber. I’m interested to see the progression of this company and any possible Uber Unions for wages or something like that as if the drivers did a worldwide strike or something Uber could be screwed if they decided to lower driver rates to such a significant extent that it would have ripples which are unable to change. Just a thought.

Now this is interesting- http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_5718d485e4b0479c59d714f6

Thanks for the post, very interesting read. its crazy how there are always lawyers searching for these sorts of things. It does appear to have legs I wonder how it will play in court. The whole uber story is incredible from the financial aspect to the legal aspect.

I’ve stopped liking Uber as much now that every 2nd driver that accepts your ride then proceeds to drive off in the other direction, WTF is that about?

^try not wearing a kilt

Never! I’m sure they’ve had worse things touching their seats than my junk

u dont wear undies under a kilt?!??!?!!
