Distance running advice?

you think i could run 6 minutes at 10mph?

How much do you weigh fool? If you’re a skinny bitch it’s possible. If you’re a 200 lb stallion nearly impossible

world record for 100m is 9.58s. a 6 minute mile would equate to 14.37 seconds.

FormerTrader can do that hungover

that is the question

on a bar bet years ago when I hadn’t trained someone bet they could beat me on the NYC 5th Ave mile on Tuesday before race and without really training at 205lbs I got a 5:48 race day and beat him by 10 sec.

I grew up running though so can turn it up if need be

around 180lbs. can prob cut 10 lbs in 3 weeks if i go hard.

should i just start running miles every day?

You need to do quarter mile repeats. Aim to do them faster than 1:30. 85s or under would be good. Go out every 5 days and churn out 5-8 of them with 2min recoveries. Good luck not getting injured!

Every 5 days with three weeks left? He needs to be doing intervals every day, taking Vega Recovery at night and inhaling vegetables…

Igor - train hard, hydrate excessively in the day, and eat as many vegetables as much as possible

Get Vega All in one for shakes during the day as well. Take 5,000 IUs of D3 a day. Prepare and you got this (without injury).

How motivated are you to win this bet? Is it just for pride at the office —

LMAO, I was running 5:15 pace at 5’10 190-195 lbs.

I dunno Igor, it’s not impossible, but it might be a real stretch goal I think.

Just went out for 5 miles with the jogging stroller. It’s kind of like picking a really light sled, but you feel it uphill. I think the stroller takes 1-2 mph of my pace for same heart rate (I wear a monitor).

Igor - so whats the game plan

It may be easier to just change jobs tbh.

my plan was to go all out at a mile tomorrow and see what time i get. the thing is, if its something like 8 minutes then ill get depressed and demotivated because i wont improve enough in 3 weeks to get it done under 6 minutes.

i am just going to cut weight for 3 weeks and run quarter miles every day

That sounds good… but I strongly don’t recommend you do intervals EVERY day. At most every 3 days and in the beginning just do like 3 and work up to 6 or more. There is a reason even elite middle distance athletes ONLY do intervals 2 to 3 times a week. It takes a few days for your body to recover and rebuild. You will probably feel really jacked up after doing intervals at first if your body is not accustomed to it.

I run for 2 minutes at 12mph when doing HIIT sprints. I’m tempted to drop it down to 10mph tonight to see if I can cling on for 6 mins. Maybe I’m just being cocky but I think I could, I’m 5’10 and 195.

For the record… running for 6 min on a treadmill at 10mph is significantly easier than running a 6 min mile on a track or road.

I figured that would be the case. I might be able to cling on with a treadmill that’s making me go at that pace but I’d have no change driving the pace myself on the road.

Getting on my cutting phase for summer. Ran 4 miles this morning with quarter mile sprints at 10mph at the end of every mile. Would like to get faster but really just trying to get lean.

Heading to San Diego later on. Anyone have some good refs for 10+ mile trail runs?
