Drugs in finance

So anyone see much of this? I just remember reading that book ‘the wolf of wall street’ and ab out those haylicon(?) days. Me personally, I havent seen anything, vnot in the office anyway

I had a boss who was a cocaine addict once - it was horrible.

I know a guy who went from 6 figures out of undergrad to assembling BBQ’s for $8.25/hr with the help of crack. Cautionary tale.

Some employees at my old firm were open about using marijuana on the weekends. Not to thread jack, but what did you think of Wolf of Wall Street. I thought it was pretty good. Although I felt the ending could have been better.

I gather a lot of people fall into coke use because of the long hours and need to feel focused. Pot may be more needed to calm down from the stress of everything.

Wolf of Wall Street is a great read. Jordan Belfort was at one point on 20 or so different drugs. The guy would fly his helicopter coked out of his mind. I think Boiler Room is loosely based off of Stratton Oakmont and Belfort.

i feel terrible about drugs in finance, but will give you a better opinion when im over my comedown…

anyone see Michael Phelps pic!!! HILARIOUS http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/news/150832/14-times-Olympic-gold-medal-winner-Michael-Phelps-caught-with-bong-cannabis-pipe.html

Yeah priceless. I feel for the guy as he was just unwinding with a cheeky toke. Hardly snorting lines off a nightclub toilet but the fact remains he is a role model and should have known better…

First a DWI and now pot. This guy is not the hero he is painted to be.

It is the media that built him up to make money. Phelps is just like you and me except he is so good at swimming. He is not a saint.

He didn’t volunteer to be the leader of today’s youth.

I agree with former trader. The dedication, discipline, and mental strength to be the best in the world speaks for itself. I recall Phelps saying that if he didn’t rest a single day, he would have 52 extra workouts per year - that’s awesome! He can smoke pot and violate CFA standards of conduct all day and all night, he’s still the man and one of the finest athletes ever - better example than simply being a non pot smoker, hahaha.

What an idiot! Phelps was ALWAYS a spoiled brat. I smell $100 million in endorsements from countries that don’t tolerate this (think Asia…) going down the drain.

I don’t ever remember him telling the press of his sponsors to shove it.

I can see the corporate part that DanLieb speaks of, though.

If everyone was honest I think you’d find that alot of unexpected ppl have smoked weed, etc.

noone is denying that at all - but its necessary for us to promote the lie to our kids that rec drugs are bad for your health and that a successful sportsman would ‘never touch that stuff’.
