Greenie talked about females in general and that those girls abilities being “far above average.” I’m not really debating, just showing Greenie whats up
Impressive. But also a bit freaky to see women exhaust themself like this. Did you see the one who was crying at the end?? WTH?
As much as I support strength training and other athletic activities, crossfit seems like too much. Injuries are bound to happen.
On original topic, I have to agree that in this case the health/life of a male marine comes before any gender discrimination issues. I just can’t see how a 120 (or even 150) pound woman can carry a 200 pound man. No matter how strong she is. There are other ways to serve the country.
dont misunderstand me–I met some female marines that were more physical than I was. And I even remember one who I’m pretty sure could have kicked my ass. (Seriously).
But for every one woman who do three pull-ups, there are probably ten thousand men. Surely we can fill the infantry ranks with the ten thousand instead of the one.
I think the point is that injuries are bound ot happen with any large amount of physical activity. If you run marathons, it is very likely you will incur some sort of repetitive stress injury. I you play basically any competitive ball sport, you will likely encounter some sort of knee injury at some point.
Crossfit is just a strength and conditioning program that helps to bring sport science to the masses. The main beef most people have with it is that it is really easy to get a certification and begin training, even if you have no practical training experience. It doesn’t bother me, because (at least in my area) the trainers, many of whom are also collegiate S&C coaches or former athletes, are leaps and bounds beyond the meathead cheerleader trainers at a chain gym.
If you work out, there is some potential for injury. If you don’t, you may throw your back out taking out the trash.
On the women in the Marines infantry front: if some woman is a genetic freak, wants to do it and can pass the tests then they should let her in. They should not modify the requirements (especially since they are based on bodyweight, which is already skewed lower) for women.
What’s your guys’ favorite female super hero? Serious question – I need to dress up for some event and all I can think of is superwoman… Not excited about it.
In the current comics, Superwoman is an evil Wonder Woman from another universe. She’s pretty hot (as she looks like Wonder Woman), but I’m not sure you’d be able to buy the outfit.
Supergirl is probably my favorite, specifically Kara Zor-El, Superman’s older cousin who shows up lookin’ like a hot 17 year old because her spaceship got delayed.
Black Widow (from the Avengers) might be a good outfit since it wouldn’t require much work to dress up as.
It also wouldn’t be that hard to dress up as Kitty Pryde from the X-men movies.
^^ Thanks for the suggestions. I ended up buying Batwoman costume with a corset and gloves. The only Catwoman costume there was was too covered up and restrictive.
