Anyone have any great lofty goals for the new year? Promotion? Retirement? Opening up 10 Tim Hortons?
Earn 25% or higher on my portfolio.
as ACDC said, “back in black”. Pass L2, not screw up as a new dad, and climb devils tower. Professionally… 7% raise and a 20% bonus would do me just fine next year.
Get married.
Ditto Joe. I’m getting married. New combined income should allow us both to participate fully in Roth IRAs so I’m setting fully funding both of ours as a goal.
Lots of marriage talk, how old are you guys

29, married to a woman who just wants to not work…pray for me fellas
Since finding out yesterday that we will not be paid a bonus this year, save up for CFA 1, study materials, pass, get a new job (possibly), and hopefully move back to Park Slope.
Buy a house, pass CFA L II, and keep my wife from getting mad at me while I study for CFA L II.

my 2008 goals 1) Pass all CFA exams - check 2) Get promotion - check 3) Get good GMAT score - check 4) Get accepted to Business School - Didn’t apply Nailed most of them. Next years 1) Buy a property 2) Get accepted to school 3) Start going to the gym.
- Pass Level 1 the CAIA 2. Pass Level 2 of the CFA 3. Learn as much as possible while working in taxation 4. Enjoy my summer before B School - Take a vacation for once 5. Succeed through B School (I just got word of a handsome academic scholarship so this is a must) 6. Run a half marathon, lose weight, eat healthier, save more money, the typical cliche resolutions
finally get promoted from french fry boy, to burger flipper actually: investigating potential of starting alternative class, low-fee beta fund landing at least ten new clients maybe moving to Boston passing level 3 donating more to charity this year convincing at least one student to start CFA process, and two not to start
- Pass L2 - Slaughter the GMAT in the Fall
- Pass L2 - Compete in an Olympic Distance Triathlon - Invest in Alt Investments (Real Estate for primary as well as investment purposes) - Transition into a new role with least financial and emotional impact - Read more (non CFA related) Hope everyone achieves >70% of their goals. Good Luck.
^ Sal - Olympic distance tri’s aren’t too bad. Pretty fun. But, I did a half-iron last year and don’t plan on doing one again . . . haha - that hurt (especially when it is 98 degrees outside)
- don’t lose money in the markets 2) don’t lose job 3) don’t lose mind
Same thing we do every year…TRY TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!
