It’s the dangerous chemicals that really intrigued me.

allergic to all those…I’m already at around 3,500 calories a day.

I mean, I can consume that too pretty easily, but I don’t think it would be very helpful for me. If you want to add an extra 1,000 cal to your diet, just add a #1 from McDonalds in there or a Chipotle Burrito durin gyour day
Lot of pasta, potatoes, shakes, chicken, fish, red meat. Add some veggies and mixed greens, it’s really not that hard to get to 3,500. Haven’t had McDonald’s in like 7 years…but I’ve been thinking of adding it back in as of late.
I am in the opposite position as you, I try to stay under 2,000 which I don’t have an easy time doing
If there are dangerous chemicals in there then I would probably stay away. Are there studies that document these dangers or is it just something you read on an internet forum? There are so many supplements available that I’m sure you can find one that works reasonably well and isn’t dangerous.
“How many calories does it have? I need to increase my calorie intake.” 3,500 calories a day??? That’s a hell of a lot of food. That’s six big macs. My intake is around 2,200-2,500… and I’m 190 lbs ish.
Weird question but are any of you guys vegetarian? Or only eat seafood? The only meat I’ve been consuming has been seafood for over a month with about two slip-ups and I feel 100x times better…much lighter, better skin, and have been very “regular” in the bathroom. Don’t go imagining me as some skinny twig and berry eating nature boy, I’m far from it.
So do you take iron supplements?
The thought of a Peter Luger’s porterhouse makes me 100% certain that vegetarian is just not a lifestyle I can possibly pursue, but of course I have no problems with people who choose it for themselves TPain88 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Weird question but are any of you guys vegetarian? > Or only eat seafood? >of course I have no problems with people who choose it for themselves Agreed, unless they call us meat eaters “barbarian” or “murderer”. They seems to forget the fact that even vegitables and fruits have life.
From my 13 years of diet experimenting. The best diet for me is a Paleo Diet, which limits anything that is processed. For years I could not figure out why my lipid profile was so bad…high LDL, low HDl. High Triglycerides. I was not eating alot of crappy food, no red meat, etc that was conventional wisdom. I worked out 4-5 times a week, with weights, long distance cycling,…low body fat…18%… 6 ft 190-195. never smoked…frustrated because my dad had by-pass at 55 with T2 diabetes. Problem was I was eating too many carbs for my genetic makeup…I do my best to cut out as much sugar, simple carbs as possible (problem with my liking of good micro-beers). Eat lean meats, fish, eggs, vegetables. Plus I take 5 concentrated pharmaceutical grade fish oil capsules a day. I take other supplements, and am under the supervision of a non-HMO, non-pharmaceutical company influenced, nutritionally oriented MD. (You get what you pay for…) My weight, lipid profile, is improving. Everyone is different…and you need to experiment with diet, lifestyle first. IMHO…Only take medicine as a last resort.
Turkish Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So do you take iron supplements? Yes, I take Mega Men GNC vitamins…I was def raised as a meat and potatoes kind of guy. Also, I didn’t stop eating meat to “save the animals”…and I’m not trading in my leather shoes for some made out of hemp and rubber. I did it for my own health, not only is it an easy way for me to regulate my weight it’s just honestly healthier. The people that live the longest are japanese vegetarians…the increase surge in cancer and other diseases of our nation I believe are attributed to the hormones, steroids and other crap injected into our meat supply. Cancer def isn’t 100% caused by this…I’m just saying I think the food we eat def. contributes to it- so don’t go bashing me. I’m NOT against eating meat, although there has been a debate forever as to whether we are NATURALLY carniverous…I believe we’re not. And don’t start w/ that “we’re at the top of the food chain” crap b/c there are plenty of animals that could kill us w/out a gun (which we use)…and animals don’t cook their meat before they eat it- their bodies can naturally digest raw meat. However, I do think that if you eat meat (I may decide to return to my carniverous roots one day), it should be organic. It may sound like BS but search youtube for videos of how chickens are raised. It’s f*cking DISGUISTING …seriously, and all we see are the pretty pieces in neat packages in the meat isle. I can’t access youtube at work but I believe one of the titles were 45 days of a chicken’s life or search “45 days chicken.” If you watch that video, I don’t see how you can repetitively eat non-organic meat if you remotely care about your health. These chickens are pretty much sick and disfigured, can’t even walk…same with the cows.
Growing up in the heartland, i’ve seen my fair share of farms although they were all family farms and not corporate (farmland, perdue etc). i’ve never seen/met a farmer who intentionally grew disfigured animals and if they did, i cant believe for 1 min that the farmer would stay in business for long. (how does a cow w/ no legs graze a pasture?) anyhow… if you’re worried about the quality of life for the animal, check out grass fed beef. eatwild.com is a good place to start your research. you can also get a few magazines (i think the most popular one is stockland grass farmer?) there are plenty of farmers raising animals “the right way.” the distribution channels are a bit undefined so it is more difficult to obtain than the average steak… cant just run to the grocery store. although i know of a few farmers that have actually not been able to sell their grass-fed beef and sold it on the regular market (apparently being a farmer doesnt equate to being a good marketer, distributor, etc).

I def agree…and I didn’t say these animals were born without legs- check out the vid. I’m talking about animals born and raised in the shed w/ feeders (chickens). Well over the majority of cows are not roaming free, grazing on pasture, so yes you have to do research and locate the quality beef. The majority of these cows are stuck in stables with their necks sticking out, getting little to no exercise and licking on salt blocks in an effort to get them to drink more water to produce more milk. Yes I’m talking about the corporate farms, where the majority of Americans get their meat, not from your country neighbor.
I work out when I can. I work market hours on the west coast so I have to work out after work. I work 6AM-2PM.
you’re right. i didnt pay close enough attention. you didnt say they had no legs, just that they couldnt walk. (i have that scene from Kids running my head right now… crazy movie). anyway… > These chickens are pretty much sick and disfigured, can’t even walk…same with the cows. my point was that i have a hard time picturing a cow that can eat without walking/standing. dont get me wrong. i actually agree (for the most part) w/ your agreement. w/o corporate farms, americans would be a lot healthier. however, the baconator might cost $3 more and the consumer isnt going to have that. i’m a big fan of farmer’s markets. i recently read that the avg age of a farmer is over 60 yrs. scary! IMO, it comes down to a lot more than just chickens and cows though. if you go to italia, all of their tomatoes taste like tomatoes. the fresh fruit and veggys that they eat are delicious because they are in season. it makes a HUGE difference when you eat something that was raised the way it was supposed to be raised…
and also… btw, the reasoning behind a salt block isnt to make the cow drink more water in order to produce more milk. if that was the case, you would only see salt blocks on dairy farms. from my (poor) understanding… it is to provide additional minerals into bovine’s diet (like your supplements). no idea how useful they actually are though.

Okay, you’re prob right. Another issue which I haven’t been able to break, is the role of milk in our society. I use milk in my cereal when soy milk isn’t available, and I use it in my coffee, but it’s just not natural for us humans to drink cow’s milk. Just b/c the people before us did it, doesn’t mean it’s natural. There’s no other living creature that drinks from another species tits…just think about it. Who was the first person to start sucking cow nipples? Us humans are nursed on our mother’s milk at birth and that’s it…then we go seeking other animals titties to suck on…it’s pretty disguisting when you think about it.
