This thread was never about the GOAT. That is always going to be a subjective discussion with perhaps some emotion. The reason you started this thread was to argue that Federer should retire because his game has declined and he can no longer win a slam. Not you, but several others have taken issue with FT saying that Fed isn’t the GOAT, when he has very clearly stated many times that he considers Fed the GOAT. I disagree with FT’s opinion that Fed should have retired a few years ago, as he is still one of the best players in the game, but the number of posters arguing against a position they claim FT has taken despite the fact that he has taken the opposite position is annoying.

A lot of people took issue with the secondary argument; FT insinuated that Roger would never win another GS and was way past it, uncompetitive, and that it was somehow shameful to go to only semis and finals. I took issue with that.

Cilic and Berdych are no slobs. Cilic beat Federer in the semis of the US Open a few years ago. The guys left may not be Murray, Djok or Nadal but they can all beat Fed (not Querrey). It is certainly a great opportunity for Fed though and he looks unstoppable.
