If Federer had any pride left he would retire

The mental focus he can maintain is beyond admirable. Djokovic on the other hand let’s his emothion rule at times.

Second best tennis player in the world, plus a record that is almost impossible to beat is soooo hacksaw…

Can we please tell Nadal to retire. That is one guy who won’t be able to play after 30

It is incredible what Federer is doing at 34. His longevity and playing at the highest level for so many years strengthens his case in the debate for the greatest player ever. I would love to see him win another major, but as long as Djokovic is playing I cannot see that happening as Djokovic is 28 and in his absolute prime.

Nadal has some work to do but I think he can get back to his best especially on the clay.

There’s no hate coming from here. I admire him; that’s the reason it kills me that kids these days will remember the 2011-2015 version instead of the unbeatable version.

Like I mentioned, leaving on top is a lost art.

Everyone has a prime - kids know that. The only thing that hurts his legacy is the lack of HD video from his hey day.

Federer into another Wimbledon semi-final. Incredible at age 35.

Raonic must like his chances in the semis against Federer.

What a performance from Federer, he’s got to be favourite with the tennis he’s playing. If he wins I think he’d quit.

I still want Murray to win though. people saying he’s the favourite but let’s not forget Fed beat him in the semi last year. Murray’s not beaten him since 2013

Murray winning now. Fed is gonna be worn out

Cmon Fed! I just need to see him crowned once more

the Scottish **** is winning this. Im betting a house on em.

SUNE BROS

This is the tournament where Raonic will have to bring his game to the next level and make it his coming out party. At 25 (going on 26), it’s put up time now. Nadal is out, Joker is out, Federer just played a game so long that he celebrated his 50th birthday between sets 4 and 5. Raonic was in this spot exactly 2 years ago and laid an egg. I never thought Raonic had the complete game to become a dominant force but the stars are aligned in this tourney to make a serious run at a major.

BTW, it’s great to see the original “If XXX had any pride left, he would retire”. Often imitated but never duplicated.

I would put a few dollars on Raonic winning this match. With McEnroe in his corner and some added self belief, I think he can beat Federer and make his first major final. Federer will be a bit tired and Raonic has the firepower on grass. I don’t think Raonic will lay an egg this time. I think he will lose to Murray though if Murray makes the final.

I like how you rejoice in this thread despite being totally wrong.

Didn’t realise Raonic would be the 1st Canadian man to reach a grand slam final. well, canadian insofar as he was born in Montenegro and lives in Monaco.

Tough loss for Fed. He had chances. Hope Murray beats the robot Raonic.

Federer hasn’t won a GS in the 3+ years this thread has been created. He is a shadow of his former self and it’s more than frustrating seeing him struggle on shots he used to make with his eyes closed. He is just another athlete that has a tough time hanging them up. He might be ranked #3 but you know when it’s time to step it up to the next level late in tournaments he finds a myriad of ways to lose. It used to be the exact opposite. It’s a death by a thousand cuts we are witnessing.

I would have been totally wrong if he pulled an Andre Agassi and rejuvenated his career.

andre didn’t have anywhere close to this number of semi and final appearances in his final years.

There’s still no one else on this tour that comes close to playing the game as beautifully as Fed does. There’s no one else I’d rather watch, past or present.

Yeah FT has obviously never competed in a sport before at a high level let alone the highest level in an individual sport to even understand how difficult it is. Fed is still a top 3 player in the world at the ripe old age of 35 in a sport that has never experienced this type of depth on the tour before ever.

This isn’t the women’s tour. You can’t go from playing your sister in the singles final, winning, and then playing with her in the doubles final and win that as well.

The fact that Fed can still go out there and compete with younger, more physical players is a testament to how strong his game is. His game isn’t built on strength but technique, intelligence and exceptional decision making. He’s still schooling guys 2/3rds his age, most of the top 10 right now would not be able to do that at age 35. There are reasons why he is the GOAT.
