If Peyton had any pride left, he would retire

Being fairly risk-averse, I think I’d take the known success of Peyton Manning. Cam could turn out to be the greatest QB of all time, or he could be Colin Kaepernick.

Easy choice. Peyton all the way.

Definitely not an easy choice. Cam’s human capital is still so high but winning Super Bowls is extraordinarily difficult. Manning is probably the most talented QB to ever play, so that would be a nice thing to say, but that dark cloud of only one ring and nine one and dones is a major buzzkill.

I’d take the risk as of today knowing that Cam is in good shape to already tie Manning in the ring department, and has another decade+ to get another. His literal best WR is Ted Ginn so I don’t think he’s a fluke or is going to fall off any time soon. Plus as stated he’s a physical specimen who laughs at car accidents.

wrong. he never had the athelticism nor the super strong arm. but he is the Smartest and most Dedicated for sure

I honestly put that in there so I wouldn’t have to deal with another one of your crushing blows via Facebook meme. Brady is clearly the GOAT. Do your worst.

That was pathetic.

Good question. Id say Manning as he is going to retire at 39 with millions. Respected by all, he will have a future ahead of him doing random crap on ESPN if he wants, or he can sit back and collect money on his Papa Johns and enjoy times with his family.

Cam is just beginning his journy, Peyton is already about to receive the gold at the end of the rainbow. Its is possible Cam may get a slightly bigger one one day, or he may get injured and never get there. I am just thrilled I got to watch Peyton in his prime revolutionizing the way the quarterback position was played. Even though his playoff records arent the greatest he had an amazing rivalry with Brady that they both get to put on their mantle and be proud of.

This isnt to dis Cam at all. He is an incredible talent, works his tail off, great leader, an all around asset to the game. If he is able to play at a high level for another 10 years we can all be saying we got to witness another in a great line of quarterbacks. As for this game? I can only imagine Cam is going to break them. That Denver defense has continued to surprise me though so who knows.

You guys do an office block pool? My numbers are horrid. I got Den-Car of 2-6, 5-3, 4-4, 8-0, 0-8, 1-2. Horrid. Hopefully someone wins 28-10.

My office has a block pool and I have some decent numbers. Ours flips axes each quarter, so I have Carolina 7, Denver 3 for the 1st and 3rd quarters, Denver 7, Carolina 3 for the 2nd and 4th. Also have 4 and 4. My other blocks are not so great.

Never played one where the axes flip thats pretty neat

^ Last year was the first time ours was setup like that. I’m somewhat indifferent to it. I guess if it results in my winning I’ll like it and if it results in me not winning I’ll curse it.

I’ll never forget the year I was sitting on a nice 7-7 square and it was 10-7 Steelers with the Cards about to go in at the end of the second quarter, and James Harrison’s 100 yard return gave me the halftime square. It was only a couple hundred bucks but that was the most unexpected turn of events leading to a small windfall I’ve ever experienced in a game I had no rooting interest in.

Peyton only has 1 ring, but how many divisional championships does he have? 10, 12, 15? Of course, a ring is the ultimate goal but being a serious Super Bowl contender year in and year out for a decade and a half means a lot too, whether you are an owner or a fan. It means sold out stadiums, high memorabilia sales, and a fanbase that legitimately thinks it can win it all.

Eli has 2 rings but his team sucked for 90% of his tenure. As a fan, I’d rather take Peyton’s 1 and contend every year for 15 years.

Thats rough man. My worst is last year. Going into the end of the 1st for about 150 or so bucks the Seahawks scored and all they had to do was kick the extra point for it to fall into my block. I was thrilled! Until they went for 2…

did you feel Deflated* after?

This is a solid point. I’ve made it before when Brady and the Pats went a decade without winning a SB but were still either getting there or finishing with 12+ wins every season. People seemed to disagree strongly for the most part. *shrugs*

All the Eagles fans I know, and I know a lot of them, would trade the Andy Reid era for just one of Eli’s rings in a heartbeat.

They briefly put up Peyton’s career post-season stats last night, and they were a lot more impressive than I expected. Other than W/L, I think any fan would be thrilled to have a QB with these stats, which are now inclusive of last night:

63.2% completions; 272 Passing YPG; 1.5 Passing TD/game; 0.9 INT/game

For comparison, here are Brady’s

62.4%; 257 yards; 1.8 TD’s; 0.9 INT

So, it would seem that 0.3 TD’s/game is the difference between being the greatest post-season QB ever and being a post-season choker. Brady does have a ton more game winning drives and 4th quarter comebacks, but I don’t know how many honest opportunities each QB had in those regards.
