If Peyton had any pride left, he would retire

^I think Peyton has also had a somewhat better run game. (Maybe 0.3 TD’s worth of run game.)

Right. And Brady got off to a nice 9-0 start bolstered by elite defenses, going back to the whole defense wins championships things. On the flip side if we’re just going to look at pure stats, Peyton generally had the better weapons. For years he was throwing to a HOF WR in Marvin Harrison and also Reggie Wayne. Brady was leading teams to the playoffs with David Givens and David Patten. Until of course Moss and Welker came to town for a few years. Then I’d say Peyton got it back with his 2012-2013 Denver teams who were stacked beyond belief on offense. And of course they don’t win a SB until the year their defense is elite.

It’s crazy. Peyton’s two rings are now this season and in 2006-07 when he threw 3 touchdowns over 4 games… and 7 interceptions. *shrug* This is why I don’t gamble ever.

^ There’s no question Harrison, Wayne and Edge were far more talented than anyone Brady had to work with most of the time, but I was really expecting to see horrible stats for Manning in the post-season. While his post-season stats are not nearly as good as his regular season stats, they suggest that he still generally put up numbers that should have led to more wins. It could certainly be that his teams were so dependent upon his performance that when he was not up to his usual standards they had no chance, but the choker label seems undeserved. I freely admit to being a big Peyton fan, but I too thought him a post-season choker until his stats were flashed on the screen last night. I would have thought his line would have looked more like this: 58%; 185 yards; 0.9 TD; 1.1 INT and I certainly would have expected Brady’s to be far superior.

In any event, I was rooting for the Broncos last night and hope Peyton retires a champion.

Manning had Jim Caldwell as his coach. The clown couldn’t win games on a collegiate level and am still not sure how he is still coaching in the NFL

Ok, first of all Tom Moore developed and coached Peyton for well over a decade on the offensive side of the ball. And Tony Dungy was the head coach for quite a few more years than Caldwell was. But whatever you say.

BTW - let me also add that I was rooting for Manning.

Aqib Talib and Von Miller, on the other hand, are nothing but a couple of punks.

I heard rumor that Dallas may be interested in Von Miller. He may be able to help get us a decent pass rush (which we sorely need), but I personally can’t stand the guy. I’ll root for him if he comes to Dallas (like I did with T.O.), but very begrudgingly.

What are you going to do with your Greg Hardy jersey?

What do you expect of guys from a couple of Big 12 schools not located in Austin?

Footnote: Texas A&M was still in the Big 12 when Von Miller went there.

^I can only imagine–Von MIller, RG3, and Johnny Football being in a Cowboys uniform next year.

That’s almost as bad as TO, Pacman Jones, and Greg Hardy. But at least VM, RG3, and JF aren’t actual criminals. Just punks, idiots, and Heisman winners.

(edit - and I didn’t know that Talib was a KU graduate. That must make him Sweep’s favorite player!)

Don’t forget Von Miller was actually caught trying to cheat his cheating.

Probably won’t see any Facebook memes about him though. Those Broncos fans sure develop amnesia quickly.

Back to the original post, Peyton should not have retired. The post was made in jest to my Federer (and later Kobe) should retire thread, the difference being the guys I mentioned never won anything after I started the thread.

Congrats to Peyton for being the only starting QB to win superbowls with different teams and for having reached the SB with 4 different head coaches. Of course, he wasn’t the lead character for this SB win, but things usually even out in your career. Brady didn’t deserve to win last year but deserved to win one of those Giants games.

Now that Peyton got his second, will the “choker” focus move to Aaron Rodgers? (1 SB, 7-6 career record). Ironically, Brett Favre declared a few years ago that Rodgers should have way more than 1 with the teams he had.

peyton was 11-13 in the postseason prior to this year, finished 14-13

Favre shouldn’t be one to talk. He had at least three notable big chokes (stupid interceptions) that ended a Super Bowl run.

Rogers’ stats in the post-season are pretty good. Like Manning, AR doesn’t play defense. A better defense would improve the win-loss record.

Probably my favorite radio call of all time. Paul Allen. Poor tortured Vikings fans.

^ Rodgers got his SB win pretty early in his tenure as a starter and was SB MVP, so that likely works in his favor.

Wow, let’s see how the rump swabs talk around this:

Holy crap.

Yawn.

This story is old news. Are you guys just now hearing about it?

The article is quite a bit more detailed than “Manning put dong on chick’s head”.
