June 2015 Mock Exams

Something very strange is happening to me…

I am getting early-60’s in Schweser Mocks, but when I do QBank I am nailing it almost every time (often 80%+). I know QBank is relatively easier, but I am way above average on Q Bank and below average on Mocks. This is getting me down :frowning:

just finished schweser 1 AM part, only 34/60 (57%), a lot of FI and AI, that killed me, after 6 months of studying, only 57%, i think a monkey would do better…

lost a lot of confidence, not sure where to go from here…

Struggled with AM1 Schweser too

The Qbank isn’t a good test of where you stand. I realized that a short while ago. Painfully so. Do exam-type mocks only.

I spent quite a while doing Qbank, attempted the PM mock 63%, struggled with time, so unlike me.

I’m spending this entire week reviewing a little bit of each topic everyday so that they’re all kind of fresh in my mind. I expect I’m gonna get spanked next week when I take my first mock… I’m already seriously depressed. Whatever. There’s nothing to do expect keep studying.

Hi Folks,

I just started with Mocks (Scheweser) this weekend (Sunday) and about to complete first practice book by tomorrow. I am scoring in late 60s to early 70s overall (with Ethics in range of 50s). I am not sure I should be happy with this as I personally feel Scheweser Mocks are relatively easy and on Exam day we may face some difficulties (simple questions but tricky outcomes/ and also due to high pressure, we tend to commit mistakes).

I just want to know about you all? How much you all are scoring on average per Mock (average of AM/PM)? After this, I am planning to complete CFAI mock (2015).

Looking forward to more thoughts on scoring pattern and difficult level of Mocks?

Thanks,

Chintan

Man, where did u get hold of 2010 and onwards CFAI Mock exams? Also, I have heard syllabus has changed drastically, dont you think its better to restrict till only couple of previous year mocks (if one has those mocks). I have only CFAI 2015 mock.

Just took my first Schweser practice test yesterday - and boy did I get slapped in the face with a steak.

60% AM, 67% PM (this is after cheating on several questions).

It’s crazy how things sneak up on you… I mean, throughout the months I’ve been reading, few sections felt substantially ‘difficult’ … it’s a definite step-up from L1, but I figured if I stayed as consistent as I have been (did all EOC from Schweser as well as all EOC item set questions from CFAI), that things would work out by now as they did for L1…

The exam is difficult in a very cumbersome (almost annoying) way… my discouragement stems from the fact that I’m just not sure how to fix the problem. I see no value in just doing problems when I am blanking on so many basic concepts/formulas that I feel weren’t sufficiently revised/memorized/understood… and by the same token, I am seriously tired of reading and reviewing sections, as I don’t feel like anything is being retained that way…

I just don’t know… have previous passers been able to make this significant adjustment with just 2 weeks left for the exam?

hey i have a question to all the mock takers…

has anyone tried the mock exams of FinQuiz … how r they relative to Schweser … i have 6 of both Schweser and FinQuiz but limited time … maybe 5 mocks i can do …

which mocks should i opt for … and from which provider …

i would really appreciate the help … thanks

Guys,

Just for some added practise you can also go for mock exams/sectional tests at konvexity.com

They are pretty hard and tests all the concepts which you have might have missed while reading through notes/curriculum books.

I did that in L2 and scored very well. But, do only if you are done with CFA EOC/BB/Mocks

Good luck.

i did the second part of schweser exam I (PM), and got 70%, which is ok… but i see that a lot of guys here are scoring well below expectations (including myself), and if schweser exams are easy, what is going to be with the real thing?? LOL

first battle lost, but the war continues…

Afternoon mock Q47

the a asked for difference in value in yr 2024, then why do we need to discount it back 10 yrs?

Ignore my post… I got it now

I posted this in another thread but seems relevant to this also…in case anyone is interested.

I went a bit overkill with mocks…I have 6 schweser, 6 fin quiz, 3 Konvexity and 3 passed tense…along with some CFAI passed papers.

ive completed 2 Schweser, 2 Finquiz, 1 Konvexity and 1 Passed tense along with the 2012 and 2014 CFAI mock.

my least favourite are Schweser…I don’t think I shall be doing any more of them, and will concentrate on the others. The Finquiz ones much tougher than the Schweser ones in my opinion….to the extent that I’m getting 75% in Schweser and around 55-60% in Finquiz . The Konvexity questions are also tougher….with the passed tense ones being on a par with Schweser but much better written (in my opinion).

i feel the wording of the Finquiz ones are more similar to the actual CFAI ones than Schweser so more useful in that sense. Although, they don’t do much for confidence levels when you get such a low score…

Also don’t forget you have the official CFAI mock available online….that one has to be número uni in terms of importance!!

ok,

so is it safe to say that if you want to pass, you should be shooting for 70% on Kaplan Schweser Mocks? I’m still in the mid 60’s for Schweser mocks which isn’t a good thing given that this exam is like 2.5 weeks away! =(

In my opinion if you’re getting over 70% on Schweser mocks you are in great shape but I personally am going to set aside time to do as many EOC’s as I can again as well as the CFAI practice questions online. Based on what I saw last year the EOC’s are what you can expect on the actual exam with some minor exceptions (eg some readings with no EOC’s or very few practice questions can still get an item set or two on the exam, hence the “surprise” item sets that show up every year)

r u taking this the 2nd time? Is the real exam more similar to EOCs… They r so much easier than mocks…please…shed some light…I’m freaking out…I’m still in mid60s range crying

For the vignettes, I find it helpful to just read through the first two paragraphs and then jump right into the questions. I used to read the whole thing which would waste time.

Secondly, I think you guys should STOP worrying about your scores with two weeks left. You should be happy that you’re getting some questions wrong. Each question you get WRONG is another question you’ll potentially get RIGHT on the exam.

And if you’re scoring 60% per AM or PM, you just need 5-6 questions to hit the 70% threshold that you’re aiming for. At the actual exam, you’re hoping that your coverage of material encompasses the majority of what you’re being tested on. That’s just my two cents…
