Screw finance books - why dont you boys and girls read what are arguably the most important books of the 19th and 20th centuries ? The Origin of the Species - Charles Darwin The Logic of Scientific Discovery - Karl Popper Not easy reads by any means, but very rewarding indeed. You will realize that these guys were pretty smart and could have nailed CFA II with 70+ in all.
thanks a lot everyone
my 2 cent: the disciplined trader by marc douglas.

sv1984: I guess you have read the Nassim books ha? Popper is in fact a very good read!
Liars Poker is good. When Genius Failed was enjoyable as well. I decided to go non-finance for my first book post L2 with “I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell.” It’s utterly disgusting and very hilarious. I’d definitely recommend it to someone who (a) doesn’t get offended easily and (b) just wants to read something with no intellectual value (you probably won’t learn more than the fact that Tucker Max is an @$$ Hole…It is pretty funny though). My second book this summer is probably going to be “Den of Thieves” by James Stewart. sv1984: Maybe they could, maybe they couldn’t. Just because someone is intelligent in one arena doesn’t necessarily mean they are in all arenas. I’ve known a lot of extremely intelligent people who weren’t well rounded (knew a lot about very specific stuff but nothing about everything else…They also didn’t have the propensity to learn anything else).
I read the book, “Damn it feels good to be a Banker.” Very entertaining, I cranked through the thing in like 4 hours.
How has no one mentioned: Den of Thieves
A great read: “Cityboy: Beer and Loathing in the Square Mile” It was published just a few month back and is a hilarious book. Especially, because it’s covering the iBanking in London.
Akerlof and Shiler’s ‘Animal Spirits’ Michael Mauboussin’s ‘Think Twice’ Makridakis et al’s ‘Dance with Chance’ One PM from Fidelity has recommended it

I would agree, but it kind of pissed me off that there were a lot of things from his website. Plus when you quote things from the book, people have no clue what the hell you are talking about. Raise the capital roof!
I’m going to read “The Brain that Changes itself” by Norman Doidge. Anyone read that book here?
Born to Run by Christopher Macdougall Just finished last night. Very interesting stuff if you run, or if you’re interested in evolution of humans.
actually am going to an event w/ michael lewis as the speaker on wednesday- should be a great time.
“Gang Leader for a Day” Sudhir Venkatesh Utterly fascinating book. If you read Freakonomics, this is the guy that essentially embedded himself in the Robert Taylor homes in Chicago and provided Levitt with all of the data on the drug business. I just wish it were longer.
